The lights are on
As the mastermind behind Resident Evil 5 (and more recently, Lost Planet 2), Jun Takeuchi had a very tough act to follow considering Resident Evil 4's massive success. Today word has surfaced that Takeuchi doesn’t want to “deal” with the series for about four years. Takeuchi spoke with Xbox World 360 Magazine about making RE 5, stating that he felt “extreme pressure” following the footsteps of Shinji Mikami, creator of RE 4.Yes, it's true we did feel extreme pressure - and Mikami-san's shadow - after Resi 4," said Takeuchi. "However, because we were creating the sequel to this huge franchise we wanted to make our fresh direction clear.""Personally, I don't think I'm gonna deal with Resident Evil 6 at all,” he continued. ”As far as the series is concerned I'm not planning to return until at least two more Olympics have passed!"To be clear, this doesn't mean that there won't be another Resident Evil
game within four years, it simply means someone else will produce it. Takeuchi's departure from the series will come as sad news to those who loved RE 5, but fans craving a new direction for the series should be intrigued by the possibilities.
In addition to Mikami, Hiroyuki Kobayashi also helped craft Resident Evil 4. As of now Kobayashi is working on an unannounced project at Capcom. Fans worried that the series may be mishandled by a producer unfamiliar to the series can hold out hope that it's Kobayashi working on RE 6.

If there going in a new direction, don't call it Resident Evil. Come up with something fresh. I am all for the re-makes though, that would be cool
good screw that guy. maybe someone who knows how to make a RE game will do it. that goes double foe silent hill.
He says he felt pressure and tried to take the game in a different direction than resident evil 4 but the two games are almost exactly alike.
good! we don't need ya! RE with a sidekick following you the who game (thus killing what made RE scary) in sunlight fighting zombies that are not really zombies shooting your gun at a horde of non-zombies standing still is not what i want. maybe if they added some survival bits in there. and some horror would be nice, too.
Oh, I don't have the system for RE5 but I beat 1-4, Darkside chronicles, and I'm working on Code: Veronica. I'm Even reading the books. Let's just say I'm a big RE fan. Oh and I think that 6 will involve the Veronica Virus.
I personally think it'd be cool to bring back the actual zombies as opposed to the Las Plagas parasite thing... But maybe zombies are too overdone, I dunno...
5 was actually really good, but everyone compares it to 4. You just can't compare any game to the greatness of Resident Evil 4 though. I personally had a lot of fun with 5's campaign and its hyper multi player.
I would like to see 6 go back to its old school roots, but that will never happen. The best Resident Evil to me was the REmake on gamecube. So if they go back to it being scary, and more about exploring the area and solving puzzles, i would be all for it.
I loved RE5 because it was a fantastic co-op game and it built on the mechanics of RE4 well. I didn't like the fact that you had a full health bar fromt the begging of the game, I liked it better trying to find yellow herbs instead. I also didn't like that it made a departure from being scary like RE4 (that was one of the scariest games I ever played in my opinon) but the action being more intensifyed was still good.
I've never really worried about Resident Evil, all the games main series games have been phenomenal. Its just the spin-offs that haven't been so great...
I do hope the guy who made RE4 (best entry in the sereis) works on 6. I also hope they bring back Leon because he is by far the best charecter in the series
Man, who would want to follow up Resident Evil 4? Whoever has to re-conceive the entire series AGAIN for RE6 has an unenviable position. Though who knows? Maybe someone at Capcom has just been sitting at his desk during the production of RE5 mumbling to himself, "This is so stupid - what they SHOULD do is....". Maybe someone has a GREAT idea for where to take RE6? This is capcom after all.
All I know is that I DO NOT want another actioney RE game. They should spin it off into a different series if you ask me, like how the first prototype for RE4 was so action-focused, they just turned it into Devil May Cry. Keep these over-the-shoulder shooter games going, but reinvent the core RE series and make it scary again.
This is both good and bad, I didn't like RE5 as much, because it didn't have the tension of the previous ones. Be very interesting to see who will take up the series again, and where it will be heading.
Too bad re5 had a terrible story live...and ending
booo why is this happening first bioshock the fear 3 and now resident evil! Hopefully the new producer will make the series even better
the zombies are gone. fans just need to let them go.
When is the Lost Planet 2 review going up? I'm thinking of canceling my preorder because some of the other reviews have been very critical of it.
Resident Evil, as much as it hurts to say, will probably never go back to it's roots. IMO, the best game in the series is Code: Veronica, and that has to be the scariest one in the series for me.
There is one particular issue about the series that I would like to see resolved in 6 (if there is going to be one): I would like to know what happened to Sherry Birkin!!!
They need to bring back Mikami and Hobayashi(Director and Producer of RE4).They made the best change for RE IMO and maybe they could do something creative after that with much needed improvements unlike RE5 which kept same animations and gameplay.
