Female Transformers In War For Cybertron

by Matt Miller on May 05, 2010 at 12:33 PM

Keen-eyed viewers who watch the recent Transformers multiplayer trailer will be privy to a surprise in the form of the game's first female combatants.

While Activision has yet to formally announce the presence of the character, Transformers fans will be quick to tell you that the robot in question is almost certainly Arcee. She was first widely introduced in the 1986 film, The Transformers: The Movie. While Arcee wasn't the first female transformer introduced in the cartoon fiction, she is certainly the most recognizable. She even made a brief cameo in the recent Revenge of the Fallen flick as one of the three motorcycle autobots.

An even keener eye will notice a second female transformer also appears in the trailer. The Decepticon jet is most likely a character named Slipstream, first introduced as a clone of Starscream in the 2007-2009 cartoon series entitled Transformers: Animated.

It's worth noting that Arcee and Slipstream only appear in this multiplayer trailer. There's no confirmation at this point that either one of the two play any part in the single-player campaign of War for Cybertron.

Now all we need is Elita One to join the cast and Optimus Prime can start having some real options on the table. Right? Am I right? Hello?
