Disney And Sony Detail Exclusive Toy Story 3 Content

Disney Interactive revealed today that fans who purchase the PlayStation 3 version of Toy Story 3: The Video Game will have access to exclusive content. The most noteworthy addition is the chance to play as Emperor Zurg.

 “What we love about the evil Emperor is that he may be only six-inches tall, but he never comes to grips with his ‘toyhood' - Zurg is forever out to conquer the universe,” said John Blackburn, vice president and general manager of developer Avalanche Software. “We worked closely with Pixar to ensure the game's animated toys behave true to their physical counterparts. Zurg is mischievous and fast, and with his arm cannon, he's great at blasting things-he'll earn you a lot of gold.  But don't ask him to climb any ledges - we've respected the fact that he's got wheels, not legs.”

Individuals will also have the opportunity to  download mini-games compatible with PlayStation Move when it hits retail later this fall. 

“Disney is bringing PlayStation fans a unique and compelling experience through Toy Story 3: The Video Game's exclusive PS3 content and PlayStation Move mini-games. PS3 is the only platform where players can become the beloved Zurg and hop in his specialized car, or take aim in the shooting gallery with PlayStation Move and experience an unmatched level of precision and realism,” said Rob Dyer, senior vice president of publisher relations, SCEA.

Toy Story 3: The Video Game is slated to release June 15. Check out the trailer below to see Zurg in action.

    I can't help but admit that I'll probably give this game a try. The original 'Toy Story' was one of my favorite childhood movies, and it holds a curious lasting, multi-generational appeal that made the film as entertaining for my parents as it was for me. I plan on seeing TS3 when it hits theaters, and if the video game iteration delivers on its lofty promises, I'll at least spring for a rental.

    Haha, Bob Smith has got it.  I agree.

    PlayStation seems to be going on an exclusive campaign for playing as the villain... which I have to say is rather... genius... first Arkham Asylum's play as the Joker and now this.

    I mean... it's really fun to be able to play as the villain.  To almost get into his head to a point.  Sales seem to have proven that to a point at least with Arkham.  We'll see what it does with this.  If I decide to get this game, which I was already interested, I would be getting the PS3 version cus that's the only console I own... but... with this exclusive content bonus... I'd sure be a happy customer.

    The promise of Move compatible minigames in the future are also intriguing...

    Sweet, Zurg is hilarious. Excellent move by Sony. They keep building on their diversity as a console. Yet another family game to add to the collection.

    Wow I honestly have to say that looks sweet, and I like that the motion controller is being used for shooting games, can't wait to use that controller.

    If anyone buys this game... it only makes sense to buy it on the PS3... especially now that Zurg is playable.

    The game is going to suck I just know it however for my Nieces and Nephews this is going to rock for them.
