[UPDATE] Call Of Duty: Black Ops Set In Cold War?
Activision has announced a release date for the next Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game will be hitting shelves November 9. Keeping with the series' hot-potato developer tradition, this one is being developed by Treyarch. You might not believe this, but the studio is a little bit excited about its own product. Don’t believe me? Check this out:
“We can’t wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts.”
Players will explore… wait. Combat will take place in thrilling locations such as… dang it. You’ll step into the boots of… crud. You’ll be able to equip a wide array of weapons, including the devastating… nope. OK, fine. There isn’t much else to say about the game right now, other than the fact that it’s coming this November, it’s being developed by Treyarch, and the people who are making it say they are delivering a gripping and riveting experience.
Fortunately, more info is coming soon. A trailer is debuting on GameTrailers TV on Spike this evening. Check out the countdown clock here and prepare to learn more about a game where you shoot people.
UPDATE:
An eagle-eyed reader has found a game-details page for Call of Duty: Black Ops posted on UK retailer Game that may provide a bit more information on the game. According to Game's Black Ops page, the game's single-player campaign takes place in areas such as Cuba, Vietnam, and the Arctic. It's still speculation at this point, but it at least lends a bit more credence to rumors that the game is set during the Cold War. We'll post more details on the game as they're made available.
