New Screenshots of Arcania: A Gothic Tale

by Adam Biessener on Apr 23, 2010 at 10:43 AM

Publisher Dreamcatcher Interactive sent out a new batch of screens for its upcoming fantasy RPG Arcania: A Gothic Tale today.

Original developer Piranha Bytes may be off the case (having recently released Risen to critical acclaim), but the Gothic series lives on. The European franchise has always been a buggier, more hardcore vision of open-world fantasy role-playing than the more U.S.-oriented Elder Scrolls series.

Arcania retains the open-world structure that has always defined Gothic, but new developer Spellbound Entertainment is attempting to move in a more mainstream-friendly direction.

The game is scheduled for a September release, and we should have more details on gameplay soon.
