Blizzard Bans Over 320,000 Battle.Net Cheaters

Use hacks on Battle.net, and you're going to get banned. That was the lesson that over 320,000 Warcraft III and Diablo II players learned yesterday when Blizzard banned their accounts for violation of the service's Terms of Use policy.

A friendly post on the Battle.net forums reminded players that in addition to using hacks or third-party software, abusing "unintended mechanics" in these games also falls under the umbrella of offenses that can get you suspended from the service. The post also stated that first-time offenders will only have their account suspended for 30 days, while repeat offenders are gone for good.

The bottom line? Don't cheat, stupid.

  • Good! This personally has never been a big problem for me when playing Warcraft III, but it's obviously something of an issue if so many accounts were banned.

  • Yeah, thats right! Don't cheat

  • That is hilarious. You'd think people would obey basic rules, but you'd be wrong.

  • If your gonna cheat dont get caught

  • CHEATING JUST MAKES IT LESS FUN FOR THE PEOPLE AROUND U WHY THE HECK WOULD U DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE COME ON GUYS PLAY THE GAME THE WAY ITS SUPPOSE TO BE PLAYED

  • It would help if their terms of use policy was only like a paragraph and not a 100,000,000,000 page book.

  • cheaters suck WOOT! :p

  • @Night - Do you really need to read the "Terms of Use" to know not to cheat? Get real.

  • Wow, it's about time. I never thought D2 Hackers would be gone. I guess they could be making a statement for any games coming out soon.
  • Hacking is just for people that dont have the skill to level up honestly but want the glory of being a higher level. They may also not have the time to play but thats still no reason to cheat.

  • @ Night: Cmon, you have to be stupid not to know that using third party programs to gain an advantage in an online game isn't a violation. Cheating is for cowards!
  • Holy Jesus it's about time that Blizzard finally took some action. Honestly people, if you're going to hack...don't. Just play the game and stop using hacks. Is it really worth to lose fifteen bucks because you wanted to cheat?

  • no true. i used action reply to cheat on mario kart ds lol.

  • Excellent!  More companies should take stand like this! Then again, Blizzard probably should have banned these people a long time ago ... Still, good to see that they're cracking down on the cheaters!

  • I dont even play this anymore but I'de just like to say HA! to all who got banned. Hopefully you won't carry your BS over to SWTOR

  • Blizzard throwing down the BanHammer like this is just a sign that they want to keep thier games clean and neat, good for them

  • Serves them right

  • haha, lmao !

  • Just like the Xbox live ban

  • @ all the people ridiculing Night: True, you don't need to read the Terms of Use to know what is and isn't cheating, but Night is right. The Terms of Uses these days are getting RIDICULOUSLY long. Thank you lawsuit-happy America.
