Ex-Grin Staffers Form New Studio

Swedish developer Grin closed down last year after the poor showing of titles like Bionic Commando, Terminator Salvation, and Wanted: Weapons of Fate. Now, some former staff members have banded together to form Might & Delight, a new studio with a focus on remaking classic titles.

Perhaps in an effort to distance itself from Grin's lackluster catalog, the team at Might & Delight only claims responsibility for one of the developer's releases: Bionic Commando Rearmed. "Some argue that there is one of Grin's many later releases that stands out: Bionic Commando Rearmed," reads a statement from a company press release. "That's no accident. That was us."

Using its expertise in adding modern twists to classic gameplay, Might & Delight will focus on projects similar to Rearmed – remakes featuring an old-school aesthetic. Of course, any remakes would need to be made in collaboration with the current owners of the properties.

No projects are currently underway at the studio, but you can check out the company's website to learn more about its mission.

  • Kudos to them. I enjoyed "Rearmed", so I hope they make more side-scrollers like it.

  • Not much reason to be excited to see what comes of this... but I like their new name x.o

  • I hope that this announcement and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 being announced at Captivate aren't just coincidences.

  • I'm really loving how game developers have made the 2D-sidescrolling/platforming genre popular again, especially what Chair Entertainment accomplished with Shadow Complex.  If M&D can reimagine a classic side-scroller and make it their own (and make it fun), then I will support them.

  • Ahem...... Strider remake. Thanks.

  • They are responsible for only great title to come out of GRiN and their goal is to create more awesome remakes. I would say that is mighty cool and I hope they find delightful success.

  • Thats good for them, moving out and on to bigger and better things. But, they should be weary when tampering with classics, pending on the title.

  • Well I like this, it will be nice to see some old classics re-made, I would like to see a Double Dragon re-make, game and why we are at, a new movie.  lol

  • Thats good. Good luck to them.

  • @ Darth Spartan

Double Dragon remake..... yes. This concept pleases me.

  • Pick any game from replay and remake it.

  • If a remake of NES classic Shatterhand isn't their #1 priority then heads will be rolling...

...then a weird tentacle monster will sprout from their necks and I will have to stand perfectly still and shoot it to death with a variety of guns.  Q(`~`Q)

  • More side-scrolling games would be nice.

  • This sounds like a lot of good can come from it.  Best of luck to them, I really hope things work out for these guys.

  • I loved "Rearmed", so I'm happy to hear them get a second lease on life.

  • Can you guys redo Double Dragon? I loved that game!

  • Who's going to re-release Bad Dudes?

  • Great job, glad they got to create some jobs. Now lets hope this one doesn't close down.

  • Can this mean we will finally see a remake of Ghost's & Goblins? Let's hope.

  • Uh-oh... I was actually GLAD about the demise of Grin
