NPD: Modern Warfare 2 Now Second-Best-Selling Game Ever

We already knew that Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was an unabashed success and, apparently, "the biggest launch of any form of entertainment since the dawn of mankind." But just how well has the game continued to sell? Uh, pretty well. Today's March NPD release gave us another hint of the shooter's incredible continued success.

Though no specific numbers are provided as of yet, NPD writes that Modern Warfare 2 "is now the second-best-selling game of all time." Just last month, we were informed via a similar statement from NPD that Modern Warfare 2 had taken the number three spot.

What competition does Modern Warfare have yet to get rid of? The crown is currently held by none other than Wii Play. Does this hardcore military shooter have what it takes to dethrone Nintendo's super-successful family-friendly hit?

Wii Play has sold 60 million+ copies. MW2 doesn't stand a chance.

Well I bet EA is happy right now that the creators of one of the top selling games has gone to them, maybe the will hand over the Medal of Honor series to them or a whole new IP is on the way, either way, EA is excited.
Wii play was bundled with wii, seems a little unfair.

Wii Play shouldn't even count. You get a copy of Wii Play with a purchase of a Wii console. It's complete *** it's even considered a game. MW2 all the way!

Huh. I could've guessed at Wii Play holding the number one spot...after all, how many people bought it just for the extra Wiimote packed in? But I was surprised at how high on that list Guitar Hero III was. I thought that was the series' low point...well, except for 80s. And any handhelds. But you know what I mean.
