Level-5’s New Game Is Called Time Travelers

Level-5, the developer behind the popular Professor Layton games is working on a new game called Time Travelers. The only hitch is that this game is releasing on hardware that doesn’t exist…at least not yet.

As Andriasang.com reported, this week’s issue of the Japanese magazine Famitsu revealed that Time Travelers will be the first work to come out of Level-5’s new Tokyo offices. Not many details about the game are available, but Famitsu showed off some concept art from the game: a young girl standing atop a clock tower in the middle of a ruined city.

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said that the game would be, "centered on hardware that's not yet in this world, [but] it will expand to other hardware." Does that mean Time Travelers could be one of the first games announced for Nintendo’s new 3DS? Or is this a system we haven’t even heard of yet? We’ll just have to wait to find out.

  • Lame just bring it to the DS. I don't want to have to buy new hardware yet.

  • Interesting. 3DS does seem like the most likely candidate but what about Natal?

  • Regardless of what system it gets released on, this should be a fun game. I realize that there are no details yet, but if it's anything like the "Professor Layton" games, I have high hopes already.

  • interesting

  • @ paul

Level 5 has an exclusive deal for professor layton with Nintendo. It won't happen

  • If its anything like Professor Layton, I will try it out.

  • The hardware doesn't exist yet.  Does this mean that Time Travelers will bring the hardware from the future?

  • Wow that could be anything, will we actually be time travelling in this game.

  • Then lets travel to the past and put it on the gameboy

  • Why is this not the announcement of Dark Cloud 3? Am I right or am I right?

  • Interesting indeed. I would most likely assume it is for the new 3D DS but you never know. Game industry is full of surprises.

  • Will we hear more about this at E3?Most likely.

  • I await it's possible greatness.

  • Feel like I've heard of these guys before, but can't seem to remember where from (no it wasn't the Professor Layton games)

  • Level-5 makes great games, so I keep an eye on this.

  • Okay interesting. But if it's on the 3DS then it might be good.

  • that's like offering special features for a car model that hasn't been made yet

  • umm.....isnt the 3ds going to hurt after staring at it for a long time?
