Blackhawks Hoist Cup In NHL 10 Sim

EA Sports has simmed the upcoming NHL playoffs using NHL 10, and the game predicts that the Chicago Blackhawks will beat the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins in a drama-filled, seven-game series. Check out where the game has your favorite playoff team ending up.

According to the simulation, the Blackhawks' seven-game series with the Pens contains three overtime games -- including the seventh and deciding contest -- which ends in a 2-1 victory for the Blackhawks when Jonathan Toews scores seven minutes into overtime. Chicago's stars shine throughout the playoffs (see the complete results bracket below), with Patrick Kane, Toews, Duncan Keith, and Patrick Sharp all racking up the points. In fact, defenseman Keith ends up winning the Conn Smyth Trophy as the player most valuable to his team in the playoffs.

Other Notable Predictions From NHL 10:

  • The Pens' formidable duo of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each racks up 31 points in the playoffs (Crosby: 16 goals, 15 assists. Malkin: 11 goals, 20 assists)
  • San Jose is...San Jose. You know what I'm talking about
  • Experience counts. Playoff newcomers the L.A. Kings and Phoenix Coyotes don't get out of the first round. The youngsters over in Colorado, meanwhile, make it to the semis but are swept by Chicago
  • Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals are kept off the score sheet against the Penguins in the seventh game of the conference finals. Ovechkin has three goals and five assists in the series
  • Buffalo Sabres' and Team USA star goalie Ryan Miller has a playoff-best .947 save percentage in the Sabre's first-round match-up with the Bruins

Any playoff predictions, people? If Chicago wins the Cup, I'm going to puke in my mouth -- and not a little, but a lot. The only worse outcome would be if Vancouver won, but I'm not even going to think about that.

    Hoping my Avs will not know they are supposed to lose and make a good run. I do not want to see Wings and/or Pens in the finals again. Don't want o see Ovechkin hoist the cup either.

    Can we please stop with the first crap? Is this first grade?

    HAHAHA....That won't happen, The Hawks have Marian Hossa...He is the black plague when it comes to winning the Stanley Cup...The Hawks may get to the final, but unless he is out for the entire series, They will not win it.

    Completely disagree with it. Besides pits going to finals again. I say we're gunna have a Back, to back, to back, wings vs pits. Least i hope >.

    My playoff predictions are almost identical to that except I don't see Vancouver beating Detroit. Other than that it's almost exactly the same as far as who wins (I've got different predictions on how many games it'll take for a team to win the series - Washington sweeping Montreal? Montreal will win at least once since they're 2-1-1 against Washington this past season)

    I like how Philadelpha tops New Jersey, and the argument for it is that they bested the Devils in the regular season with a record of 5-1-0. If regular season records were any indicator, the playoffs would be decided in a manner of minutes. Luckily, this isn't -- AND HAS NEVER BEEN -- the case.

    If the Penguins and Red Wings make it to the Finals, I will absolutely not watch. I just can't. But if the Devils can't make it to the Finals, which I hope to all that is holy that they will, I would like to see Ovechkin win the cup.

    Since the Wild are done before the playoffs even start (as always), I'm rooting for the Devils. I always liked Lemaire, and Zach Parise is a stud.

    Chicago's stellar defense hides the fact that they don't have solid goaltending, and you need a stud between the pipes in order to win Lord Stanley.

    I'm guessin' Buffalo vs. San Jose in the finals.

    Watch the whole thing, pretty emotional, eh? I was there, and I have to say I shed a few tears. There was great energy in the building that night. Respect to Mo, cause if it weren't for him, I don't think hockey would be as popular as it is now in the U.S. Also, you gotta love a genuine athlete who isn't afraid to show his true emotions. Last of a dying breed...

    Plus, I know how much the Game Informer guys love them some Mikey Mo :)
