Target Field Opening Honored By MLB 10: The Show

by Adam Biessener on Apr 12, 2010 at 10:26 AM

Sony is doing the right thing by paying homage to the best stadium in baseball -- which opened at 3 o'clock this afternoon with the Twins hosting the Red Sox -- with a video post on the official PlayStation blog (embedded below). The video is a marketing ploy for MLB 10: The Show, sure, but I'm not going to complain about the Twins finally getting their due.

Narrated by Kevin Weinstein, a senior artist on The Show, the video highlights the crazy attention to detail that goes into building the in-game representation of MLB stadiums. From the placement of electrical boxes to dugout phones, just about everything on the real-life field has a digital version.

If it weren't for Weinstein's informative narration, I'd suggest playing the video with the sound off -- the background music plumbs new depths of terribleness. It's the aural equivalent of Tony Hawk: Ride marketing photos.

Regardless, it's nice to get an early look at the place 2009-2016 AL MVP Joe Mauer will call home for baseball season.
