Red Dead Redemption: Gunslingers Hits Facebook

For a lot of us, May 18th is too long a wait to play cowboy in Red Dead: Redemption. Fortunately, Rockstar seems to have realized this and has announced a Facebook app called Red Dead Redemption: Gunslingers.

According to Rockstar the “action-RPG experience” is starting its open beta today. Players who participate in the game will be able to choose between three different classes: Outlaw, Fast Hands, and Sharpshooter, as they duel their friends, form posses, and level up and unlock achievements.

If you’re interested in playing Gunslingers check it out here. Anyone out there played it yet? What did you think?

  • I'm not into facebook games; I only post the occasional photo and say "what's up" to a friend I havent seen in awhile.

  • I agree with superbanana. Facebook games don't appeal to me at all, even if it was a mini Mass Effect 2 app. I'm on there to socialize with friends, which is what it was made for.

  • Can't facebook at work, won't be wasting time with it at home, heh..

  • Agree with you guys, but i know a lot of people that play farmville or mafia wars. Seems to be addictive to them.

  • This kinda sounds like Mafia Wars but whatev, at least it's not Farmville.

  • Not much of a FaceBook gamer but I might try it out when I have the time. Anyways, RD:Redemption looks amazing, haven't seen a decent western shooter since GUN or the original Red Dead.

  • It's so weird, I was just telling Josh at work this morning (and this is verbatim, mind you), "Man, I wish I had more promotional garbage attached to my Facebook account. That's what I need: dreck. Dreck in it's purest, unrefined form. A commercial masquerading as a hamfisted Facebook game would be a good idea of what I need."

And now this. My wish was granted; long live Jambi.

  • ive never played any of those other facebook games but this one is different.....i gave it a try and im really liking it......i suggest that if youre thinking bout gettn the game then i suggest you try this facebook app out

  • hmm in the same bat as most of the other users; but wth i'll give it a try.

  • I am having a hard time linking up to it.  but got a few duels in.  Seems like it could be fun.  Pretty basic right now though.

  • naw kid

I'm a male aged 18-35 and do not play Facebook games. Do you suggest I give this app a try? Does focus group testing show my demographic liking it?

  • If you don't like Facebook apps, why even comment on a story about a Facebook app?  Seems you'd much rather waste time commenting than playing a facebook game, hmm?

In regards Gunslinger, I found it a fun diversion.  Since it's a beta, I'm hoping Rocktar adds some more things to do other than to just duel endlessly as it'd get pretty boring if that's the only thing you can do.

  • i dont have a facebook account but i hijacked my brothers account to play and i gotta say its pretty cool, but frankly i think i can wait for redemption even less now

  • Those type of games are really for non gamers who like to screw around.

  • I actually play facebook games like mafia wars to pass the time when i have abosolutely nothing to do. I thik that its a good idea for Rockstar to release a mini game like that... prsonally I think it will build up the necessary hype for the game to have an amazing release May 18

  • no into facebook...that much, but I might check it out

  • @ Ghostpig

hey im in the same age group as you and ive never played any facebook games either......but i do suggest that you give this a try cause its pretty addictive.......ive gotten some of my friends to try it and they all like it and their all in our age group 18-35male.....

  • I comment because I'm at work, waiting on an email, and can't move forward on this project until I get the correct .dwg files and I'm bored. Since you asked, RisingSon, why are you commenting on people who comment on Facebook games when you clearly could be playing a Facebook game instead of commenting on the people who don't play them? Oh ho!

  • @masterstorm13

Dang! I'm 37 so no research details yet. Guess I'll have to pass lol.
