New Developer Vatra Taking the Reins Of Silent Hill Franchise

Konami showed a brief trailer of a new Silent Hill title at the end of its recent press event in San Francisco. While not much was revealed about the game, we do know that it is being created by a new developer, Vatra Games (an upstart Czech studio also working on the reboot of of Rush ‘N Attack). While Konami promises to reveal about the next Silent Hill at E3, we do know that the game is headed for next gen console (and possibly PC) and will not feature music by longtime Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.

  • Not much to say about it yet.

  • Like Next Gen, as in after 360, PS3 etc.?
  • You mean current-gen, right?

New dev and no Yamaoka-san is a terrible start to the details.

  • well ill definetly be getting it but will very much miss akiras beautiful soundtrack for the series its very unfortuete that she left if heard her other stuff and.....its not very good

  • need more details

  • Ok, now I'm expecting the announcement of next-gen consoles this E3. the 360's graphics are out of date anyway and needs blue-ray compatibility since that market seemed to have beaten HD-DVDs.

Also, take note of all the "Great deals" that Microsoft is throwing with the 360. They aren't this generous. Obviously, they're trying to get what they could with the 360 right now before people know that a new console is on the way.
  • despite the last couple of titles, i still believe in this franchise.

Konami needs to stop putting out all these half-assed, B-grade spin-offs and refocus on making Silent Hill the AAA series that it once was.  they're doing it with Castlevania, they can do it with this.

  • ??????? say what?

  • Mod

It's a bit of a bummer that Team Silent isn't working on this one, but it's a huge disappointment that Akria Yamaoka isn't doing the soundtrack. Can't wait to see it though.

  • Welp, let's see what they can do.

  • Not enough information to judge yet but we'll see at E3.

  • It's interesting to see how this will turn out, without Yamaoka and Team Silent. Can't wait to hear more, though I'm not expecting a whole lot.

  • i want to follow this

  • Let's see if it totally blows like Homecoming.

  • Just sucks that Akira Yamaoka isn't working on the music.

  • I don't really know too much about this franchise, but I know enough to know that a lot of people consider SH2 the last great game (and greatest) of the Silent Hill series.  I wonder if this new developer can do the franchise right?

  • idk, this could be good or bad for the series. it does need a bit of a revitalization though

  • @Paul Targon:

    ^5's !!!

Next Gen indeed! No s##t huh?

  • I wish I would of went to the SF event but the soundtrack for silent Hill might ruin the game

  • How long will this franchise last...honestly
