THQ Has Secret Natal Project

by Ben Reeves on Apr 06, 2010 at 08:12 AM

While the tech is cool, few of the Natal’s software titles have gotten us excited. We’re eager to hear about any news regarding killer apps for Microsoft’s new Natal interface, so we were happy to hear the core games boss at THQ, Danny Bilson, say that his company is working on an “awesome” title that could possibly be announced at this years E3.

“I have a game that [Microsoft are] really excited about that we haven't announced. It's making awesome use of the Natal technology,” Bilson told gaming news site CVG. “I have some concepts and some ideas that use Natal in a core game in a really, really cool way.... I don't think the experience with the technology is there, I don't think the install base is there because the game I'm thinking about is a $30m/$40m Natal game, and the install base isn't there yet to support that. The concept I have uses every corner of that tech and maybe in a couple of years we'll do it.”

One thing is for sure: if Natal is to succeed, it will need good software. In order to entice more developers to make great games for the platform, it’s going to need to be successful. It’s a bit of a catch-22, but that’s the dilemma every console/new technology faces as it hits the market.

What do you think? Will Natal have enough momentum to capture general gamers’ interest? Do we know enough about the platform to even speculate at this point?
