iPad Day One Sales Top 300,000

by Jeff Marchiafava on Apr 05, 2010 at 08:25 AM

No one thought that the iPad would be a commercial flop, but thanks to today’s announcement from Apple, we know just how well the tablet is selling. Day one April 3 sales for the iPad broke 300,000, with new users downloading over one million apps and 250,000 ebooks in the span of 24 hours.

While the retail figure lands somewhere in the middle of analyst predictions, the sales figure means consumers forked over a minimum of $150 million, which doesn’t take into account transactions in Apple’s App Store or iBookstore, or the more expensive 32GB and 64GB models. Not a bad Saturday for Apple.

We’ll have more on the iPad, including our review of the hardware, in the near future. In the meantime, check out Nick’s hands-on impressions.

So, is anyone surfing surfing the site on their iPad right now?
