Stupid Criminal Alert At PAX

by Matthew Kato on Mar 30, 2010 at 07:30 AM

A hacker at PAX East has tried to steal Atomic Games Breach at the game's booth at the convention. Chases. Confessions. Singing like a canary. Real cops 'n' robbers stuff.

Joystiq has an account of the hi-jinks, which started when a Atomic Games employee caught the suspect trying to download code for Breach at the company's convention booth. After getting 14MB of the code, the suspect fled and was chased down in the crowd. Atomic says he confessed several times (including while he was doing it!); claimed that the whole thing wasn't a big deal, and that he did it because he was a fan and wanted to play it with his friends. He even tried to flip on supposed co-conspirators, claiming he could "name names."  While we're sure they wanted to perform their own backroom interrogation of the wanna-be thief, Atomic is leaving matters to the cops, who've confiscated the hacker's laptop and other equipment.
