Battlefield 1943 Sells 1 Million On XBLA

by Tim Turi on Mar 29, 2010 at 08:49 AM

DICE released Battlefield 1943 last year and set the bar for what a downloadable multiplayer game could be. It’s since become the fastest-ever game to hit one million units sold on Xbox Live Arcade. That’s quite the accomplishment, and enough to steal the title from Castle Crashers.

“The reception of Battlefield 1943 continues to amaze us, even months after the game was released,” says Gordon Van ***, Battlefield 1943’s producer. “Being the fastest game to reach this milestone is an incredible achievement. The game has set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category. It’s fantastic to see how gamers have recognized the value that the game delivers for just $15. It is another great entry point into the Battlefield franchise.”

In case you’re curious what all the hubbub is about, you can still enlist in battle for $15 on PSN or 1200 MS points on XBLA.

Who of you out there contributed to Battlefield 1943’s success?
