Valve To Kill Original Left 4 Dead Cast Member In DLC

Left 4 Dead fans were happy to hear that they’ll be able to meet up with the original team in the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 DLC, The Passing. But some of those fans will undoubtedly be disappointed, as Valve has revealed that one of the members won’t survive their trip down south.

In a recent interview with Game Trailers, Valve’s Chet Faliszek revealed that The Passing’s newly-announced tag line, “Nobody Survives Forever,” refers to the fact that one of the four characters from the original Left 4 Dead dies just prior to the beginning of the DLC. The three remaining survivors will team up with the Left 4 Dead 2 cast as non-playable allies.

According to Faliszek, the unnamed hero's death is all about self-sacrifice, which will be detailed in the unnamed DLC announced for the original Left 4 Dead. In that DLC pack, gamers will play through the fateful events themselves, and one player will be forced to die for the survival of the team. An upcoming comic book will detail the “idealized” version of events that The Passing will follow.

Sacrificing your life for the survival of your teammates? That sounds like every match I’ve ever played with my brother -- at least maybe this time I’ll get an achievement for it. If the choice was up to you, which one of the original cast members would you sacrifice?

Bill makes the most sense. And since they didn't record any new lines for Bill in Crash Course, that leads me to believe there was a problem with the voice actor that just MIGHT carry over to this other upcoming DLC.

Sadly, I think it will be Bill. It seems like Bill, being the oldest and figuring it was his time, must have been the sacrificial character. My problem with that? He's my second favorite of the eight after Nick.

I don't have this game since I don't have a PC or 360, but I'd say the old guy, because he's lived the longest life, and it was probably a good one.

It's gonna be Bill. They can't get the voice actor for Bill to come back and do the voice. I wish they could kill off Rochelle....(I know she is a L4D2 character, but I hate her).
