Samurai Warriors 3 A Wii Exclusive, Published By Nintendo

Nintendo and Tecmo Koei today revealed that the companies are working together to bring Samurai Warriors 3 to North America. Nintendo will be publishing the Wii-exclusive title here. Samurai Warriors 3 adds new features, characters and modes to the series, including some online and off-line co-op features. Tecmo Koei already has a long-established publishing presence in North America, so it's interesting to see Nintendo stepping up to bring the game over. Did Nintendo feel that it was that critical to have it released in North America?

We got our hands on the game at last year’s TGS. Check out our impressions here.

  • For some reason I keep buying the warrior games, but why only the Wii is what I'm wondering.

  • o god

  • This looks kind of hideous :(

    Wow.....

  • I guess they did. I wouldn't buy it though.

  • a sequel is supposed to improve the genre... and when the last game was on the 360. The wii is unfortunately a step back. Bad form...

  • Wii owners can have it.

  • not impressed. then again, it's the wii

  • I'm stoked about this game...not happy it's on the wii, but I will take what I can get.

  • I need to see more. but it has to use wii motion plus or gamecube controller. They would have put this on ps3 or 360 anyway with the motion controller

  • A sucky game for a sucky platform.  Big whoop.

  • realy!?!? i thoght wii was STARTING to get better, well i guess its back to the start :(

  • Like I said, I'd rather just wait for Galaxy 2. This doesn't really look that good.

  • made by nintendo i was hoping for kirby

  • kind've interesting how Nintendo is starting to publish Wii games they don't make.  It seems to me they are showing that they are finally taking third parties seriously and lending them a hand which is good :).  We'll see what happens with the game.  I'm keeping my expectations low right now since Samurai Warriors games weren't supposed to that good in the first place

  • Looks like it's gonna be bad, to me.

  • I've never heard of parts 1 and 2, and that might discourage a few people, but if Nintendo's up to the challenge, this could hit big!

  • thanks keep the garbage there

  • How does NOA make their publishing decisions? Throw darts at a release calendar? How else can they pass on stuff like Soma Bringer, yet go out of their way to bring this and Glory of Heracles over?

I wonder if a company brings stuff over here to fail on purpose. Just so they can shut up fanboys. "Hey, we brought over hardcore games and it didn't sell - didn't you guys see Samurai Warriors!?! You had your chance, now we're making Wii Music 2 and other stupid games we want to."

Absolutely bizarre behavior. Not just from NOA, but from Tecmo-Koei. They were just now getting around to figuring out current gen hardware. Everything they've done so far has looked like a "PS2 Plus" title - a PS2 game with tons of bloom light and tons of identical enemy models on screen. But Fist of the North Star Warriors actually looks like it belongs on PS3 and 360. Why go back to a "PS2 Plus" level of technology?

Also, isn't the Wii also getting Devil Kings 3 from Capcom? Isn't that series the superior "incredibly repetitive brawler" in the genre? What's the point of this...

    Baffling.
  • lol the first 3 consoles failed so lets ruin another

  • I hope that image is from an old one (though considering the wii is just ps2+ I wouldn't be surprised if it is this one).  Oh well, I have my warriors game for this console, no need to buy another anytime soon.
