The lights are on
If you're experiencing some technical difficulties with your copy of Final Fantasy XIII, you aren't alone. Some users are reporting freezes, crashes, and other bugs in Square Enix's latest RPG. According to this thread on the PlayStation forums, the issues seem to predominantly affect the old 40 and 60 GB versions of the PlayStation 3 (though PS3 Slim and Xbox 360 gamers have experienced problems as well). The source of the glitches isn't apparent, and no easy fix seems to be available. While this is terrible news for gamers who have been waiting years to play Final Fantasy XIII, the problem doesn't currently appear to be widespread. I didn't experience any of these hiccups while playing the game for review, and other GI staffers who are currently playing the game (on 360 and PS3 alike) haven't encountered any game-breaking freezes or crashes. We have a call in to Sony about the issue, so we'll post any updates to the story as it develops. What about you? Is Final Fantasy XIII functioning as it should on your system?[Thanks to tipster Sebastian O. for the link]

Using the Metal Gear 80GB PS3 and all is well.
nothin so far
Fine for me and my 80GB PS3 (w/o PS2 compatibility).
I'm only 11 hours in though...
Don't even have the game. And I don't need it either, I'm saving up for Just Cause 2 and Bad Company 2. Until then I'll continue playing BC2 at friends houses
Good thing I didn't buy it yet
so far so good on my slim
All good over here. PS3.
I haven't had any problems so far. I'm playing on a refurbished 80 GB PS3.
Sounds like the problems aren't all that wide-spread after all...
Kinda scary, but if it's just freezing, that wouldn't stop me from playing the game (as long as I don't happen to lose progress because of it).
Nothing yet.
I am 15 hours in on the 360 and I have had no problems whatsoever.
So far so good on my 40gig system but I'm less than ten hours into the game.
It's the after effects of the ApocalyPS3!
