The lights are on
In a recent interview with Game Informer, BioWare figureheads Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk expressed reservations about Final Fantasy XIII. "I've been reading some reviews on that one. That may be on the bottom of my list right now," said Muzyka in reference to his queue of must-play games. "It's kind of a question mark. It would have been right up there before I read about it, but some of this other stuff is probably more pressing."
Zeschuk chimed in, adding "It's really interesting. They're trying to do something different, which is admirable, but it's hard. They also had a very long development cycle. They may have been aiming at a real interesting spot at one point, but then too much time goes by. Not only are there a lot of games, but they are coming out fast."
We'll be curious to hear what the Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins creators have to say about the game once they get around to playing it.

It's not even on my list.
I haven't read anything that would put FF13 on the "bottom of my list." It's a little further down, but I'm not playing Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs before FF13. Sounds like BioWare's just taking pot shots at Square Enix...
@TJ
They even look like Little Bitches...
Nonetheless, they make A hell of a great video game, well, the ideas anyways... but the fact of the matter is: You dont make yourself look better by putting others down, you make yourself look like a little b*tch...
I love Matt Bertz and Bioware.
Cocky bastards.
I understand you don't want to deal with hope, but don't go hating of the FF nerds will strike back
I really don't think they're trying to put FF13 down, they're just saying that the game isn't one that they are too interested in playing at the moment. Pretty sure games like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are not even considered to be on their "list".
What would Bioware know about trying something different? They've been essentially remaking the same game since KOTOR.
Strange quote... seems out of place for world class developers to make comments about reservations to play a rival game of the same genre based on review generalizations. I don't get it.
Do not care for that game
People just don't enjoy JRPGs anymore. FFXIII is actually a fantastic game people are just used to the style of western RPGs, which I'm not saying is bad. They just start to expect things like huge open worlds and deep equipment customization which aren't really norms of JRPGs. Those focus more on in depth plots and complex strategic battle sysetems. FFXIII does both in great fashions in my opinion, at least so far as I've played it.
This moves the mass effect series down on my list right now. I just finished the game, and I really enjoyed it. This is a pretty tasteless move on their part. The game deserves both of their respect. The reviews scared me a little bit too, but i wasn't about to shape my opinion based on what someone else says. There wouldn't even be a Mass Effect series if it wasn't for Final Fantasy.
@gamergirl89
I think they might be FF nerds. This one just doesn't float their gaming interest boat.
Everyone is taking this too seriously, he said it was at the bottom of his list. So what. Its not like hes sayin its a bad game. Even my friends say that FFXIII is at the bottom of their lists and theyre die-hard fans of the FF series. As it is for me, im waitin for FFXIV to come out, whenever that is.
Like every quote in the media these days, this was taken out of context. In the interview they are talking about other games they would like to play. After hearing all the great press about games like Borderlands and Heavy Rain, they compare the mixed reception that FF13 has recieved and say its at the bottom of their must-play list because of it. Their not taking "potshots" at SE or "being cocky little bitches".
there just upset the Mass effect 2 didnt do as well as the first. i mean really i havent heard anyone talk about it since it came out.
@ Spectre921:
I work at GameStop & it became available for pre-order this past Sun. The release dtae is not set in stone yet, but at least we can reserve it...so that's a step in the right direction!!!
I love FFXIII and I'm excited to eventually try out Mass Effect (maybe by the summer) but seriously these guys look like dweebs and should think about that before talking
