Insomniac Games Could Be Going Multiplatform

by Ben Reeves on Mar 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM

There was a lot of gossip coming out of the Game Developers Conference, but few rumors were as big as the news that Insomniac Games could start making games for the Xbox 360.

According to one of Ign.com’s “trusted sources,” the Ratchet and Clank and Resistance developer may be making a cross-platform title for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Since Sony owns the Resistance and Ratchet and Clank franchises we know we won’t be seeing either of those properties move over to the 360. However, if Insomniac is working on a new IP, it might actually be able to retain intellectual property rights, which is pretty big deal for developers.

Since it released Disruptor in 1996, Insomniac Games has exclusively worked with Sony. The developer has been one of Sony’s most consistent game makers, and getting the studio to work on 360 titles would be a huge coup for Microsoft.

What do you guys think? What could Insomniac’s next game be? And if they’re going wild could they also start making Wii titles?
