The lights are on
In addition to crazy news stories that no one could ever possibly believe, one of the recurring features of the annual Game Infarcer section is a cover image showcasing a made-up game. If you've ever wondered about how that comes together, you're in luck. For the last several years, we've hired Zander Cannon over at Big Time Attic to handle the illustration for the cover. Not only is he a fantastic artist and all-around cool dude – he's also a gamer, which means that he understands the jokes and what's supposed to be funny about them. This has lead to some excellent images in previous years, but this year's cover (featuring the non-existent BioShock 3) is my favorite in Game Infarcer history. Check out Zander's blog post on his site for an in-depth look at the process of creating the image. It's fascinating to see how an artist can take this rough sketch (which we drew)...
...and turn it into this.

The covers really have improved dramatically, since the redesign. My personal favorite is issue 200. Plain white cover with the silent protagonist from GTA III on the cover. It was so simple, yet so brilliant. That particular cover shows that you don't need a lot of flash to make a big statement.

This is the best april fools game infarcer. I loved how Game Infarcer also had a redesign which only made it worse instead of better. Last years was also funny with Braid 2 on the Game Infracer cover.
