Weekend Warrior 03/12/10

You may have already guessed, but Final Fantasy reigns supreme in games we're playing through this weekend. Read on to check out our other picks, then head over to the comments section and let us know what you're playing this weekend.

Jeff C: Once again, I’ve got about a million things to play and only so much time. The biggest time sink is probably going to be Final Fantasy XIII. I’ve only played a few hours so far, and it’s pretty good. It’s kind of a homework game for me, though, since I’m not the biggest Final Fantasy fan on the planet. I’m hoping the story will start making sense soon, because right now it just feels like a big mess. I also need to put in some more time with Mass Effect 2. Finally, I’m just about over this nasty cold, so I’ll be able to hop online with Bad Company 2. I thought I’d do my potential squadmates a favor and wait for my head to clear up before joining up. Nobody wants to hear someone who sounds like they have a sinus cavity filled with oatmeal.

Kato: One of the big highlights for me last week was shoveling a giant pile of snow and ice off my deck. Now that that’s out of the way I have nothing else to look forward to in life except finishing Mass Effect 2 before God of War III hits next week. I’ve played through Heavy Rain once, and I’m not sure when I’m going to start a second playthrough, but I will at some point. That’s pretty unusual for me since I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve played a game from start to finish more than once. I also just played through the Heavy Rain DLC, The Taxidermist, which has five different endings. I’ve already gotten two of them, but what’s cool – and different from the main game – is not only does the DLC list out the names of the endings, but it gives you three save slots in the beginning, middle, and end of the DLC that you can go back to so it’s easier to restart and replay towards those various outcomes.

Meagan: I'm out at GDC until Sunday, and while I am surrounded by games, they're only brief demos. When I get back, however, I will spend some quality time with my PlayStation 3 and Final Fantasy XIII. I don't expect to come up for air often.

Dan: It almost pains me to write this, but I’m doing my taxes this weekend. Or more accurately, I’m paying some dude to do them for me. In terms of things that I actually enjoy doing, I’ll finish up Heavy Rain, start Bioshock 2, and play Bad Company 2 whenever I get the chance.

Tim: Final. Fantasy. Thirteen. Now leave me alone.

Annette: I'm making steady progress through Final Fantasy XIII so far and plan on sinking a ton of uninterrupted time into it this weekend. I think about it all day at work and it's destroying my productivity. I want to go home and play. NOW!

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?

Comments

On sunday, I actually plan to take some time to grab my copy of Pokemon HeartGold on sunday and play that until i get home....... then its back for more XIII... I'm bout to pick it back up in a feew mins, i just wanted to listen to the new podcast and give my eyes and mind a break.

  • Wow, Annette must have been serious. She left right in the middle of the blog without asking all the other Staff.

This weekend will have more reading than gaming, what with the pile I just picked up from the library and my only half-finished April GI, but I think I will play some Cave Story. Yes, I want to play some Cave Story. NOW!

  • I think I'll finish Mass Effect 2 one more time for the No One Left Behind achievement then play Bad Co 2.

  • I'll be playing MW 2 and probably trying it online with the free 48 hour trial. We will see how that goes. If I beat that then work on Ghostbusters some more.

  • Borderlands. Even tho Cell Shaded, Excellent game

  • Darksiders for me :P

  • BF:BC2 when the maintenance is done on the servers.  Other than that I got Arkham Asylum from Steam for $22, that will get played.  Let's see, oh Baseball 2k10 ( I only have an Xbox while my brother took his PS3 back to play FFXIII), kick it with some homies in CSS, and at some point go outside.

  • I've recently hit a wealth of free time. My weekend actually started today, and boy did it start. I woke up to start my first game in Infamous (simply amazing game by the way), proceeded to play my Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, moved on to finish Mario Galaxy, and ended the day right with some Modern Warfare 2. Now that the weekend is actually here, I'll most likely add mixed doses of New Super Mario Bros Wii into the mix.

Ohhhhh how I love my games =)

  • Demon's Souls is the main course on my plate right now, and I also plan on chowing down on some BC2 multiplayer before I stuff myself with GoWIII come Tuesday.

    Olympus will fall.

  • did bioshock2x2, dragonagex3, ME2x2, and Heavy Rainx2...guess I should prolly go buy FF13..

  • bad company 2 servers are down for friday and a little bit of saturday, so ill just play the crappy campaign.

  • ill be playing some plants vs zombies and probably gonna pick up a psp go so that i can review it

  • Well, I SHOULD be playing RE5: Gold Edition, but I'll have to wait a while for that. So I'm just playing the surprisingly awesome Brutal Legend instead. That, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
