The lights are on
Crackdown 2 is coming out this summer, and developer Ruffian Games is already talking about DLC for the title.
Fans of the first Crackdown took full advantage of the game's open world structure and came up with their own ways of having fun and causing mayhem around Pacific City. Fan-made YouTube videos became such a phenomenon that Ruffian Games tells OXM it is including the ability to create and share in-game videos with friends as DLC for Crackdown 2. "People did a lot of things in the first game that we didn't really know could be done." says executive producer Peter Connolly. "We've expanded it a bit now so we're expecting them to do more with it this time. But in order to do a replay system in a four-player co-op game is not a simple task, and we want to do it well."
Why is it DLC and not shipped with the game? Then answer, according to senior test engineer John Noonan, is simple: time. "The reality is we're just working like crazy to get the core game out, then there's six to eight weeks of manufacturing and distribution that goes on. And then all of a sudden the team's got a little bit of bandwidth to start looking at DLC and stuff like that."
Just as this DLC content was driven by fan needs, Ruffian Games says that future DLC will be created based on what players want to see and how they play Crackdown 2.
Are there things from the first title that you'd like to see improved upon or added as DLC for the sequel?

I like the artwork, if there's more customization this time around then I'm in
lots of new multiplayer modes, please
This game is a must buy for me...
I am getting tired of companies not putting DLC that could potentially be on the disc in the first place.
I don't mind waiting a few more weeks.
The blurb for this made it sound like the game already came out.
How about a customizable character or armor or weapons. This is 2010 and sandbox games should at least have some sort of customization in them.
They don't put DLC on the disc because they want to battle the used game sales.
It's actually a brilliant idea.
cool, Crackdown 2 is out and we're getting DLC already!
...
... wait, what?
A DLC to remove the freaks element of the game. I have very low expectations for any zombie or "may as well be a zombie" centric games at this point...
I'm all for that.
might be fun for a little while!
One of my most anticipated games of 2010...and one of the few remaining reasons to keep my 360.
A friend of mine was just talking about how he'd like to see this in more games. I'm all for it. Always wish I could re-watch myself getting blown up over and over again.
Sounds great!
It bothers me a little when DLC is announced for a game that is not even out yet.
not really keep it as is just add shtuff to it and it will be great
OMG! that last screen's a BIG Freak!
makes sense, I mean, it's not like you'll be able to upload a video if you don't have internet to download the DLC in the first place, if only more devs took advantage of online functional DLC
As long as I don't target the car of the bangers who are dumping on me, as opposed to the offenders themselves, then I am golden
I want a character customization thing. That is, if it isn't already on the game...
