What's Happening

Scribblenauts 2 Coming

Scribblenauts was a hit when it came out for the DS late last year, and now developer 5th Cell has announced that a sequel to the puzzler is coming this fall.

The first Scribblenauts let you conjure objects out of thin air by using the game's dictionary of nouns to create objects Maxwell could then use onscreen to solve puzzles. Scribblenauts 2 takes things a step beyond by now letting you use adjectives to further manipulate the game world with your imagination to pass the game's new slate of challenges. Adjectives can be used to change an object's size, shape, color, behavior, and more.

Scribblenauts was an inventive title, but not one without its frustrations. Hopefully 5th Cell can tighten up some of the gameplay as it simultaneously opens up a new world of possibilities.

  • wow, this sounds awesome. definitely a chance for 5th cell to respond to the complaints about wonky controls.

  • *reserves*

  • Sweet, I don't have the first one but It is on my list.

  • It's inventive games like this that make me wish I had a DS.  And the time to play one.

  • I'll have to check the first one out. I've been looking for a reason to play my DS for the past year.

  • I was hoping this would be released for the Wii.

  • Make sure this one recognizes "dead cat in an ice chest full of bees", won't you? Thanks, team.

  • Hopefully, it'll recognize more words and solutions. Still more hopefully, it'll prevent Joe from using his words.

  • Sounds like alot of fun

  • @ Ghostpig

Good Lord, you need help.  Haha

  • @ TJ

No way, homie. The world I see is pretty slick. I'm not changing it.

  • Scribblenauts has some nice art...for a 2nd grader. ;)

  • @ SightofTwilight

Yeah, but how else would you fit OVER NINE THOUSAND words into the Scribblenauts dictionary? A 3D engine would probably ruin things.

And This game is more about gameplay rather than graphics. If that wasn't the case, then Maxwell wouldn't have had a smile on his face every time he died from accidentally running into the Explosive Barrel trap I set for potentially dangerous creatures.

  • the first one was a great idea but, it wasnt done very well. lets hope there is lot of improvement this tome around.

  • the main guy reminds me of the main character from spankie's quest a game for super nintendo lol

  • Sweet.  I like the idea of using adjectives in this game.  Can't wait!

  • Great! Now all they have to do is ADD IN FARFADIDDLIN' D-PAD MOVEMENT!

  • That...sounds...AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!?!:?w?!?!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!

  • Yaaaaaaaaay

  • PLEASE GOD PLEASE!!!!! FIX THE CONTROLS!!!!!!!! that game was the most innovative game ive played in a long time, but the controls were terrible. i truly believe that game could have been in contention for GOTY if the controls were solid (ok, maybe not, but it had SO much potential.). if they tighten up the controls, i'll definately get this
