What's Happening

Weekend Warrior 03/05/10

It's all about Battlefield: Bad Company 2 this weekend, and Heavy Rain for those of us in the single-player camp. Read on to find out what we're playing, then head over to the comments section and let us know what you're playing this weekend.

Andy: My weekend is going to consist of a heavy dosage of Heavy Rain, followed by sleep, and then some hard mode World of Warcraft until I can’t see straight. I know, you are saying to yourself, “this guy is a wild man.” Not everyone can live the crazy lifestyle I keep. Heck, I might even got outside once or twice to see if that glowing object that I believe they call the “sun” is still there.

Bryan: My weekend will consist of some P.B. Winterbottom, “Desperate Escape” Resident Evil 5 DLC, and some Fable 1. OMG old gamez!

Bertz: Earlier this week I took off work for a two-day tour of duty in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. That sniper-stabbing session (hiding in the bushes won't save you, buddy!) will now extend through the weekend up until I leave for GDC Monday morning. My brother's birthday is this weekend as well, which we're celebrating by taking him to the Minnesota Wild vs. Calgary Flames game Sunday afternoon.

Dan: With Mass Effect 2 conquered, my sights are solely on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 this weekend. I’ll be spending most of my free time in multiplayer, but I might finally tinker with Brutal Legend a bit as well. I’m also trying to finish both seasons of Breaking Bad again before the new season starts. I’m usually not one for re-watching drama shows, but this one is just too good. Just as good the second time around.

Sean: This weekend I complete my first play-through of Heavy Rain (Thanks, Joe!), try to get my rookie through his first AA season with the Sea Dogs (MLB 10: The Show), and maybe catch up on some of the old 360 sequels I didn’t have a chance to before (Gears 2, Fable 2). Also – house hunting has begun! Hopefully in a few months I can say that we will be moving into our first home.

Tim: With my second (evil, hard) playthrough of BioShock 2 behind me, I’m moving on to Heavy Rain. I also finally started playing StarCraft. No, not StarCraft II, you see, I never got around to the first one. I was a WarCraft kid through and through. Times are a changin’, and I’m having a blast with the ancient RTS. Besides that, I plan to play some more BioShock 2 multiplayer and hopefully some Chrono Trigger. I want to clean my slate before FFXIII.

Annette: Now that I have (finally) completed BioShock 2, I have already begun my journey in Mass Effect. My intention was to go the Paragon route, but my dialogue tree responses are taking me in a different direction. I also plan on wrapping up P.B. Winterbottom (super fun).

Jeff M: After not being able to get into a multiplayer match on release day (thanks a lot, EA Profile linkup thingie), I’m looking forward to a whole lot of online Bad Company 2 this weekend. I might even finish the single-player campaign, too, if I run into any more server problems – that’s what it’s there for anyway, right?

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?

Comments
  • Hopefully, I'll be picking up Bad Company 2 this weekend sometime.  Other than that, I'll be waiting for FFXIII.

  • I'm looking at an all night game session tonight with some friends that's going to mainly (from the sound of it) be some party game stuff like Rock Band and some Modern Warfare 2. If I can manage, I'ma commandeer my PS3 for a Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix tourney (I got it while it was having the PSN sale).

The rest of the weekend will be more FFX reminiscing while waiting for Tuesday. No new games until then.

  • Replaying Psychonauts, then waiting patiently for Final Fantasy XIII.

  • I will be playing "Mass Effect" and "Heavy Rain" during the day, and finishing up "Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth" at night when I am laying in bed. I am almost done with that last one. As soon as it's finished, I will be moving on to "Crime Scene" on DS.

  • Playing mgs 2: sons of liberty. forgot just how awesome that game was. other than that mw2 and might head to my friend's house for some battlefield 2, all while waiting impatiently for red dead redemption.

  • heavy rain. just got my ps3 receantly so catching up on some classics. perticularly uncharted 2 and heavenly sword.  get myself warmed up for gow 3

  • I'm gonna play as much as humanly possible this weekend and try to beat Phantasy Star 4 before Tuesday when Final Fantasy 13 comes out. If I do beat it early then I'll probabaly play some Rock Band and try to beat some high scores and such. And Tim, Starcraft is fun, but the online user map settings games are simply the best. I spent soooooooooooooo much time just playing some of those awesome created games like Gone in 60 seconds, Matrix Bullet time, and just so much more. can't remember all of them since it's been so long but it was soooooooo fun.

  • I'm having the same server problems today for Battlefield on my ps3. So I grabbed bioshock2 from a buddy and I plan to run threw that. I hear it's harder than the first, we'll see.

  • Playin tales of vesperia all mornin then play BFBC2 at night

  • Just traded a few games for Red Faction Guerrilla at Gamestop... so probably gonna be playing that.

  • I'll probably be still trying to beat MM9.  Maybe I'll get back into Dead Rising to try and get that 1000G.  Other than that, hopefully my order arrives so I can play some for Red Faction: Guerilla.

  • Borderlands, hopefully a second playthrough, a little scared though.

  • Do some stuff, try to mop up MW2 (decided to keep it), play Oblivion, maybe a little Dead Rising, and sleep and stay up.

  • BAD COMPANYYY 2

  • Uncharted 2 Multiplayer and some MW2 Spec Ops maybe. Just Cause 2 demo GOW 3 demo for me. Maybe I'll take the kiddies to see Alice In Wonderland.

  • Bad company 2 megaman 10 and maybe finish up assassins creed 2.... I'm gonna have to work by but off to finish all of these before FFXIII....yeah prob not gonna happen... I keep getting distracted by BFBC 2 multiplayer...

  • Spring break starts next week, so I'm going to run a gaming/movie watching/reading marathon all week. Need to finish AC2, Darksiders, Fallout 3's last 2 DLC packs, my "main's" current (hardest setting) playthrough of ME to ready her for ME2, Ballad of Gay Tony, newest DLC for Borderlands- and maybe some XBLA stuff, all with some MW2 liberally sprinkled in.

I want to pickup BFBC2, but I'm not sure if I can afford or justify that purchase with all this backlog staring me down and my other buddy who's talking about getting it won't be able to do so until closer to the end of the month. This new year has been great for great games, but with school and limited funds, it's been too much to fast- which is a good problem to have.

  • battlefield bad company 2 all weekend baby!

  • im gonna spend most of the weekend playin bad company 2, while mixing in some final fantasy x (yes, i just found out how much i enjoyed final fantasy this year, and i need to finish x and iv ds before i can get final fantasy xiii with a clear consience). i may even mix in some iv on the way to my playoff hockey game tomorrow morning, and will try to end my birthday party early so i can game some more

  • also the just cause 2 demo is pretty sweet, except for the fact you have to cause large amounts of destruction and the demo only gives you 30 minutes. I know what your thinking " This guy thinks thirty minutes for a demo is short". Trust me you need more to cause that much destruction, also it takes a lot of practice to get the hang of the game even. I know i know its just a demo
