Red Dead Delayed; Max Payne 3, Civ 5, and L.A. Noire Out By October

Take 2 announced that Rockstar’s spaghetti western epic Red Dead Redemption has been delayed until May 18. The game had been originally planned for an April 27 ship date.

In better news, the company did confirm that four high profile titles, Rockstar’s Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire, Sid Meier’s Civilization 5, and 2K Czech’s Mafia II are on schedule to be released between August 1st and October 31st. Those dates reflect 2K’s upcoming 4th financial quarter.

However, there is a catch. The company’s released first quarter financial statement notes that “"the Company's fiscal year 2010 guidance reflects the potential movement of one of these titles into fiscal 2011.”

Given that 2K’s BioShock 2, Mafia II, and Red Dead Redemption were all pushed back from 2009 to the 2010 fiscal year, it’s probably a safe bet that at least one of the four aforementioned titles will not see the light of day until 2011.

Either way, it’s shaping up to be perhaps the most impressive lineup of games that Take 2 and its subsidiary Rockstar have released in a calendar year. Which of these games are you most excited for?

    My heart stopped when I saw that Red Dead Redemption was delayed but thank god its only for two weeks. That gives me extra time to play Super Street Fighter 4! Civilization 5 is the only game out of all of the later releases that I am really eager to play, and I'm kind of looking forward to Max Payne 3 (I never played any of the ones).

    That sucks, I was looking forward to play Red Dead, but I didn't even know the release date, so I guess it's alright. L.A. Noire looks cool too, can't wait to see how that turns out

    oh thank god, I thought they were going to delay max payne. If it is pushed into 2011, I will be pissed off.

    There are actually people looking forward to this game? Wow... I mean... I'm the greatest Max Payne (2) fan... best 3rd person shooter ever. But part 3 has nothing to do with MP at all.. so.. who cares.

    A little sad about Redemption being pushed back, but at least that will give me April to catch up on the crazy amount of great games out in the past five months. Also I want to try L.A. noire and Max Payne 3.

    Argh I pre-ordered that instead of GoW but I probably could have pre-ordered both now. It just sucks that I have to wait about another month before I can play it.

    I'm looking forward to L.A. Noire the most.  Sounds like it's gonna be a great game.

    *Sorry for the double-posting, My guess is that L.A. Noire will be delayed, seeing as the level of detail being put into that is huge and we didn't have much details until recently. Really though, if Take 2 knows, stop making us play a guessing game on which will be delayed and just tell us!
