Mega Man 10’s Third Character Is Bass, DLC Revealed

by Tim Turi on Mar 01, 2010 at 09:10 AM

Mega Man 10 is upon us today, and with its release we have news of the game’s April DLC. The juiciest bit of information is that Bass is confirmed as the game’s third playable character. Also detailed is the pricing and release dates of the games new stages and mode.

On April 5 you can download Bass Mode for 200 Wii Points. Bass is a creation of Dr. Wily himself, and Mega Man’s ally from Mega Man 7 and Mega Man & Bass. ProtoDude’s Rockman Corner reports details for the mode from the game’s operations manual:

"Play the game as Bass. Bass Can shoot in 7 directions. Some of his abilities differ from Mega Man's. Not compatible with Rankings or Challenges."

Additional DLC hits later that month:

April 5: Special Stage 1 (100 Wii Points)
April 26: Special Stage 2 & 3 (100 Wii Points each)
Endless Attack Mode (300 Wii Points)

Of course the special stages are a mystery, but Endless Attack Mode is likely a new iteration of the infinite randomized level generator featured as DLC for Mega Man 9.

I feel a sense of closure having finally learned who the final character is. It’s a little disappointing he didn’t make it into the full game, but $2 isn’t a lot to ask for a whole playthrough with a new character.

Anybody interested in playing through an 8-bit Mega Man game with a character that’s from the 16-bit entries? Does anyone even remember Bass?
