Indie Week: Day One

by Meagan Marie on Mar 01, 2010 at 05:35 AM

[Welcome to Indie Week at gameinformer.com. We’ve got a full seven days of indie game coverage leading up to the 2010 Independent Games Festival Awards. Check the hub daily for new previews, interviews and other coverage of the top independent games of the year.]

Let’s take a look at today’s docket. In order to usher in Indie Week properly, we start off with a pair of features that give you insight into the world of indie gaming. First, we take a look at the Independent Games Festival and brush up on the 2010 nominees. Next, we address a burning question – what exactly are indie games independent of? We call on several indie icons to answer just that.

Last, we offer up our first five previews  – the nominees for Excellence in Visual Art. When sorting through over 300 IGF entries, these games stuck out to the judges because of innovation and overall impressiveness in appearance and visual effects. One look at the games and you’ll understand why. Enjoy.
