Red Dead Redemption Crammed With Colorful Characters

As you can see, Rockstar San Diego has been hard at work making sure nearly every stock Western character is represented in its upcoming sandbox game Red Dead Redemption. Everybody from the shifty federal agent to the snake-oil salesman is here, but fortunately there appear to be a few nice tweaks. While the loudmouth deputy isn't necessarily a different take on what we've seen before, Nastas could prove to be an interesting character if he's truly conflicted about his place in the world. And we can't wait to see what kind of "unfortunate habits" Zhou is burdened with. A love of opium would be the obvious and gratingly stereotypical one; let's hope Rockstar gets a bit more creative. They've certainly subverted expectations in the past, so we won't be surprised if the developer isn't satisfied with sticking with the safest character paths.

Also, here's a quick look at some of the weapons players will be able to use in the game.

  • Red Dead Redemption loooks like a great game. I hope Rockstar does not mess it up with suggestive material. Don't mess it up Rockstar.

  • Red Dead Redemption looks like a great game. I really hope that Rockstar does not put any suggestive material in this great looking game. Come on Rockstar make a clean game for once.

  • I really cannot wait for this game

  • I am -SO- pumped about this game!

  • @ wsn ok are u guys school girls why wouldnt they have any unsuggested material i mean its rockstar and gta IV is supposed to be like that jeeeez get ur head straight man please.

  • If you don't like suggestive material you shouldn't be playing Rockstar games.

  • Do you think that you will be able to hog tie criminals and drag them behind your horse? i dont know how it would help you but it would be kinda fun.

  • All I am sayin guys is I would like a good clean game for once by rockstar. The GTA series is a horrible series. And I am glad I don't have those games. They are sickining.

  • Yes this game is on the top of my game list. Do great Rockstar, you have the talent you just haven't used it right yet.

  • Bad to the @$$.  Can't wait for this game.  If those are the in-game character models and not CG-animated, then we're all in for a treat.  Is this using that same face-rendering engine as LA Noire?  They look good!

  • WS-N

What planet are you from?  This is a gritty western in the old west, one of the most violent and brutal eras in american history..or probably any history?  What do you expect? There are going to be prostitutes and gambling and murder and high octane action.  Seriously, what are you even talking about, a clean game?  What does that even mean?  The Western was not a clean place.  Have you ever played a Rockstar game before?

  • It is a Rockstar game...of course it is awesome...not too many games Rockstar makes is crap...always high quality...cant wait...GTA western stlye...YEEHAW!!!!

  • I think Rockstar makes really great games. I like the amount of suggestive material. They are rated M for Mature just like any rated R movie. I don't see how someone can complain about a violent game, yet play Call of Duty, MAG, or even Assassin's Creed series without any problems about those titles. Sure you can chose to do worse things in a GTA game, but it's your choice. Can't deny that Rockstar didn't change the video game industry with titles from the GTA series. Just because you don't like how GTA series is doesn't mean they messed it up.

  • well to respong to the first comment. The west could arguably be more vulgur than the present. What with *** houses and people with a limited vocabulary and such.

  • I'm so excited for this.

  • Looks better and better with every release of screens. Gettin' stooooaked.

  • Uh... why does 'suggestive material' bother you? Even at its worst, you can always just ignore it.
