Where’s The Beef? Nintendo’s Dunaway Bets A Steak That Zelda Hits in 2010

by Matt Helgeson on Feb 26, 2010 at 10:20 AM

In a lengthy and fairly frank (by Nintendo standards) Q&A with Wired.com’s Chris Kohler, NOA executive vice president Cammie Dunaway said that the next game in the Legend of Zelda series would hit in the last half of 2010, following mid-summer releases for Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid: Other M.

“From some of the things that Mr. Iwata has talked about, and that we will talk about at E3, like Zelda, you know that we’re going to have a good back half of the year, as well,” said Dunaway in the interview.

She later pointed out that Kohler had bet against the company releasing all three of their flagship franchises in one year. When Kohler said, “I bet no. Are you going to hold me to that? Do I owe you a steak dinner?” Dunaway replied, “I think you do.”

Game PR comes and goes, but steak is not only what’s for dinner, it’s serious business. Here’s hoping that Nintendo’s word is as good as a tasty t-bone.

Elsewhere in the interview, Dunaway acknowledged that the Wii may have peaked in terms of momentum and also suggested that the company would port the next Professor Layton title to the U.S.
