Itagaki’s Lawsuit Against Tecmo Settled

by Tim Turi on Feb 26, 2010 at 07:45 AM

Back in June of 2008, former Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki sued parent company Tecmo for “unpaid completion bonuses.” Today word has arrived that the two parties arrived at a mutual settlement out of court.

The creator of Dead or Alive and the 3D Ninja Gaiden games called the agreement with Tecmo “mutual” and “harmonious.”

Following Itagaki's departure from Tecmo in 2008, he joined forces with other former Team Ninja members to work in a new studio.

"I am currently planning a totally new title," said Itagaki, "and I am eagerly awaiting the day I am able to announce it."

Itagaki joins the ranks of two other Tecmo employees who also took the publisher to court over unpaid wages. These two employees represented 300 unsatisfied Tecmo staff members in their legal battle. As the lawsuits piled up, it may have contributed to former Tecmo president Yoshimi Yasuda resignation. He cited “personal reasons” for his departure.
