The lights are on
Fans of one of the Wii's brightest stars, Super Mario Galaxy, have something astronomical to look forward to very soon. Nintendo revealed at their Media Summit today that the space-trekking plumber will be blasting off again in May.
The May 23 release of Super Mario Galaxy marks the first time two 3D Super Mario platformers have released on the same console. Look forward to more information about Super Mario Galaxy 2 as it is revealed.
Anybody else pleasantly surprised that we're getting more Mario mere months after the release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii?

Great news! May is looking to be a strong month of games. Alan Wake and Mario Galaxy 2 in back to back weeks!
Nice, can't wait. That will be the one reason to use my Wii in 2010.
yey!!!
Yes. I've done everything there is to do in NSMBW, and I need something else to fill my appetite. SMG2 works!
Just downloaded Mega Man 9 and am playing that on Wii, and got Mega Man 10 coming next week. Then now Mario Galaxy 2 in May, and apparently Metroid: Other M and a new Zelda both on the way this year as well. That's enough to keep me playing the Wii more this year than last year for sure.
At this point, is Mario still technically considered a plumber?
More mario....... MEH. MORE ZELDA and then we can talk.
THIS IS THE BEST NEWS EVER!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I used to love Nintendo, but their franchise games don't seem to hold my attention like they used to...
i loved the first one. i hope this one has a better hub world.
Mario Galaxy was amazing! truly one of the best games of this generation! im super excited for the sequel! it may not get as high a score (if only for a lack of innovation), but im sure it will be just as amazing and fun, if not better!
I don't know, I have a bad feeling about this one. Nintendo NEVER releases a sequel to their BIGGEST franchise this quick. I have a feeling they just threw it together as quick as the could to appease core gamers crying about the lack of core games and the lacking sales of the Wii.
I hope the whole game isn't just cut levels from the first and thrown together at the last minute. I really, really hope.
Excellent news from Nintendo. Hopefully this will allow them to stagger the release dates for Metroid and Zelda later this year so we don't have to get them all at once.
@Ed, actually, when Nintendo made mario galaxy, they had alot of ideas they couldnt incorporate into the first game for time reasons and such. the team took alot of those ideas and put them in the sequel, as well as created a bunch of new ones. im not sure exactly where i read it, but u can be sure that its not just a game that was put together quickly to cash in. im sure this game will be of the highest quality, just like always.
I wonder if it will use the Wii motion plus.
I don't mind it. My Wii will actually be used again.
Nintendo seems to be putting out all their anticipated titles in the summer. That's not a bad thing though with this, Other M, and Sin & Punishment 2, it looks like the Wii is going to have a strong summer. Which is great. SMG is the best game on the Wii and this looks to surpass it.
This makes me wonder though. With most of Nintendo's big games coming out in the summer, what could they have for the holiday season?
This will help resurrect my interest in playing the Wii. Mario Galaxy 1 is by far the best game on the Wii in my opinion. This is great news it's coming out sooner than later.
Looks to be a great year for Nintendo.
Stump, this game is going to sell from now until Christmas of freaking 2011. I'm so excited for this. I'm gonna have to get another play through of the original before I get this though. Awesome Nintendo.
Maybe I'll finally get to dust off my Wii. Its about time nintendo.
