Mario & Sonic Unite To Sell Over 6 Million

The one-time rivals of the 1990s console wars have united to lucrative results. Sega announced recently that Mario & Sonic At The Winter Games sold over 6 million units. This Olympic minigame fest released in October, just in time to rake in all the holiday sales. Or would that be shovel in sales?

"The original Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games was a huge success for Sega," said Mike Hayes, the publisher’s CEO."Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games is one of the leading third party games for Wii and DS and we were confident the title would have longevity within retail.

"The start of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games is a perfect time to ensure Sega is at the forefront of the consumer’s mind when it comes to recreating that Olympic Winter Games feeling in living rooms everywhere."

Not to be forgotten, regular old Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games has pulled in over 10 million between its DS and Wii versions globally. Definitely an impressive showing for a game that none of you play.

Wait… does anyone actually play this?

  • I thought I heard that these were really bad games, so I've never played them.

  • 2 words: little kids.

If I were 8 years old, I would love to have that game.

  • I think Mike Hayes is getting his millions and thousands mixed up again.

  • when are they gonna make Mario vs Sonic a fight games like brawl or something instead of these stupid Olympic games

  • This is a really bad game it scored in the mid 70's on metacritic it's just not for this community, kids will of course love this so parents buy it for them, it's not really that surprising the Wii has become Nintendo's cash cow...

  • @Nick

If it's 70 out of 100 on Metacritic that means someone must have liked it. Personally it doesn't seem that interesting to me, and I've found no one else who owns the game.

  • No never really was into it but might give it a shot.

  • I don't play it and did not realize how successful it was until just now... I might rent it...

  • that game is sooooo boring ugh! sonic stay away from mario! your trying to rub off your failure on mario!

"when are they gonna make Mario vs Sonic a fight games like brawl or something"

    ??????

you just sort of answered your own question bro.

  • "Nintendo's quick guide to becoming a multi-billion dollar giant" CH. 1 Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games.

  • Did anyone notice only sega commented?

  • The first Mario and Sonic for the DS was crap, my brother bought it. The Winter Olympics was alright (for DS again), but it still seemed fairly gimmicky.

  • Awesome game!

  • I bought the first Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, and it was fun for..........wait.........was it 1 day or half a day?

  • wow... people and children are retarded.

  • Can you say complete piece of s***? I played this at my ten-year-old cousins house (I was at their house and they had horrid firewalls) and the game's only purpose was to assure the fact I won't pick up my Wiimote until Red Steel 2.

  • I don't I will NEVER play mario sports games! I'll stick to the adventure mario and sonic games
