The lights are on
Well it looks like the AIAS is reinforcing what the rest of the industry has been saying since its release as Uncharted 2 has walked away with a stellar 10 awards this year. As is the tradition around here, Jay Mohr took the stage to host the 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards at DICE 2010. While the results definitely favored Naughty Dog's action/adventure game, other big winners included Batman: Arkham Asylum, Scribblenauts and Modern Warfare 2. For those of you who don't know, the AIAS awards are peer voted, meaning that the developers are picking the winners. Also honored this year were David Crane with the first annual Pioneer Award. Doug Lowenstein with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Mark Cerny was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Mark Hammil won an award? Awesome. Unsurprising how Uncharted 2 won so much. Maybe I should get it. It's just too bad that the first one is still too *** expensive.
Just makes me wanna go buy Uncharted 2 all the more...
Good job to everyone involved with the production of these games!
Mark Hamill!! <3
As much as I love Uncharted 2 (my game of the year in 2009), I think it's kind of a joke that it won best art direction. Art direction to me is seeing something that's never (or rarely) been seen before. Nothing we saw in Uncharted was something we haven't really seen before except near the end. I would have voted for something like Borderlands or Mad World for this award.
Uncharted 2! Nolan North should have gotten the character performance for Nate Drake, but Joker would be another excellent choice, i guess that is why they picked it! Great list i agree with each one. I always liked Halo music however, including ODST's, i think they may have overlooked that one.
Uncharted 2 deserves it! You can't play that game AND be suprised by this news.
uncharted 2 ftw!
As expected, it deserved every single one. Hell they should've given it awards in categories it can't even be nominated for.
WOW...had no idea Uncharted 2 was THAT great of a game. I really have to get through Drake's Fortune now!
Go Uncharted 2! Go Mark Hamill! Scribblenauts is cool too.
This isn't really surprising at all. What will be surprising is if any single game dominates the 2010 awards considering the massive amount of amazing games coming out this year or already out. I'm now looking forward to this time next year since it should be entertaining how it all works out.
I loved the first uncharted, but can't really say that I like the second one, i mean the campaign's great, but the multiplayer really feels underwhelming and there is NOTHING original about this game, st least the first had the whole "awesome graphics" going for it.
Brutal Legend won Strategy/Simulation game of the year? Strange.
Yeah with PC gaming dying like it is it's not suprising many people didn't play Empire: Total War for it to win best strategy. March really is the month RTS's though, with Supreme Commander 2, Command and Conquer 4, and Starcraft 2's beta going on during it though.
Oh my god, i can't believe that was Mark Hamill voicing the Joker. Apparently he just IS DC's voice of Joker for their animated series and all that. Simply amazing.
Fvck yeah, Brutal Legend!
Ugh, Scribblenuats.
LMFAO, MW2!
I have no argument with any of those winners, they all very deserving games. Special congrats to Uncharted 2, really enjoyed that one.
@moterboat
Come on man, Uncharted 2 has enough awards (although well deserved), gotta give one to Mark Hamill.
Uncharted 2 is old hat. Mass Effect 2 is where it's at now.
While I'm unsure if I'll ever play Uncharted 2 (because I suck), I'm happy it won so many awards from its peers. It's one thing when a completely separate institution thinks you deserve an award, but it's something amazing when your friends (and maybe some enemies) do. Good jorb!
And yeah, Mark Hamill has been an amazing Joker since the animated series.
