THQ CEO: EA & Activision Should Be Envious

by Matthew Kato on Feb 17, 2010 at 06:50 AM

Not wanting to be just pegged as the company that just does SpongeBob and Pixar video games, THQ CEO Brian Farrell says this the company's upcoming slate of core games is "going to blow people away at E3."

In an interview with IGN, Farrell thinks the company is hitting its stride with what he calls "core gamers." "Think about what we have coming in front of us. Homefront [shown]. The next Red Faction. The Warhammer 40K MMO. Saints Row 3. People can say what they want, but we've got a pipeline that I think those guys [EA, Activision, Ubi Soft & Take 2] would be envious of – and we're doing it internally." Mentioning the 80+ Metacritic scores of titles like Red Faction: Guerilla and Darksiders, Farrell thinks that THQ is one of the quiet successes in the industry. "In some ways, we're outperforming some of those guys, but we'll let gamers decide. I've been doing this for more than 20 years. You can't fool gamers."

So do you think Farrell is on to something or just on something?
