Harmonix: EA Still Distributing Green Day: Rock Band

by Matt Helgeson on Feb 11, 2010 at 06:06 AM

Though EA left the title off its list of upcoming products for the 2011 fiscal year, Industry Gamers reports that Green Day: Rock Band is still on schedule to be released by MTV Games and distributed through EA Partners.

When press and investors noticed the game was left off the list, speculation arose that Electronic Arts might be ending its partnership with Harmonix and MTV Games. This theory gained momentum when news surfaced that EA’s contract with MTV parent company Viacom ends this year. During the investors call, the publisher also revealed it is scaling back the number of titles released through EA Partners.

While the future of the partnership may be in question, Green Day: Rock Band is secure. “The previously announced Green Day: Rock Band will be published by MTV Games and distributed by EA,” said a Harmonix representative. “Stay tuned for news of MTV Games' other titles soon."

At press time Harmonix hasn't given an official release date for Green Day: Rock Band, though the game is scheduled to ship in 2010.
