Square Enix Trademarks Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Has Square Enix given Deus Ex 3 a new name? Could be, as Eidos' parent company filed a trademark for Deux Ex: Human Revolution in Europe.

Despite being announced in 2007, developer Eidos Montreal hasn't shared much about the pending release, which serves as a prequel to the critically acclaimed first title created by Warren Spector's now-defunct development house Ion Storm. The newly trademarked title gives of the same vibe as the Deus Ex 3 trailer, which declares "Who we are is but a stepping stone to what we can become."

With the relative disappointment surrounding Deus Ex: The Invisible War, and the fact that neither Warren Spector or Harvey Smith are working on the prequel, I'm curious as to how many people are excited about Deus Ex 3. What do you think?

  • Odd name.

  • I'm still excited, although I was very disappointed with Invisible War.

  • i liked the invisible war.  and i'm looking forward to this game.

  • I'll be excited and probably when it gets close to release wait for the reviews...the first was spectacular and the second not so much without programmers who made the first what is was I'll remain skeptic

  • I peed a bit.

  • Im still excited about this game.

  • Invisible War was awesome.

  • For some reason I've never been able to get into Deus Ex. Even the first title didn't do much for me, so with the crash of Invisible War, I find it hard to get much interest in 3 (though its an interesting name...).

  • I hope it does well, old franchise

  • omg this is my favorite game of all time!!  i'm so excited for this!!!  also, darkknigh, if you knew anything about the series you'd know the name is most fitting since it involves nano-augmentations, duh.  really this comment idea is looking more and more to be a bad idea.

  • The original was ahead of its time. This one could be really good. Alot of improvements can be made and I think the tech that is present today will make the game more like the original vision. When developers say they had the idea for something but the technology wasn't around to do it they can point to the first game.

  • This is in good hands this could be good

  • I never even had the pleasure of playing the first Deus Ex game, which is probably unfortunate, since it was #50 in GI's Top 200 list.  This would probably be one of those situations where I would end up not getting Deus Ex 3, just because I don't know anything about the backstory or the lore, I'm a lorefreak, lol.

  • They'll change the title to "Human Wii" right before it comes out.

Ba-dump Ting! Thanks folks, I'll be here all week. Try the veal.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH!!!!  That game is the total crap and for that game to fall into the hands of the greatest Japanese Role-Playing Game Developer in the business, I'm feeling really giddy like a schoolboy.  :D

  • Oh hell yes, this game is going to be awesome... if it comes out before the world ends in 2012, lol.

  • hopefully they'll make it as good as, if not better than, the first one

  • Mod

Nothing will ever surpass the first one.  All we can hope for is a a game better than Invisible War.

  • I just checked out the trailer and it looks pretty cool, even though I didn't understand it really. The name is pretty bad, the invisible war is definately a better name than "human revolution".
