The lights are on
EA executives dropped the news that BioWare's Star Wars MMORPG is expected to ship in fiscal 2011 in a conference call with investors. This puts the release in April at the earliest, and clarifies the original "Spring 2011" launch window.CEO John Riccitiello noted that while the game will hopefully be a profitable venture, EA's cash flow is running slow right now. "MMOs can cost as much as two to six, seven times as much as a front-line title, if they’re done right.... It is a major investment for us."The trailer that EA showed at last year's E3, while impressive, had a higher budget than many full-fledged games (no, I'm not exaggerating). Are all those truckloads of money going to result in the kind of game that we've been hoping for? Are you going to drop your current MMO, or take your first dip into the genre, when The Old Republic finally comes out?

Let's all remember, the longer the wait - the better quality the game. With so many other new titles coming out this year, I can hold off until 2011.
I wish I liked playing games on PC because this looks awesome. Sucks it comes out in another year, but quality always pays off when it finally comes around.

This might be my first venture into MMORPG. I've been happy with many Star Wars games, especially KOTR and look forward to giving this a shot.

never touched a MMO before but this will definitely be my first. this gives me plenty of time to save up for a good computer to play it on
Seem like a good idea not to rush this project as I would really like to see this game up and strong though I'm not a huge star war fan but always been intrigued by many factors of the movies (Lightsabers enough said). Plus its BioWare people so you know many of the things they make turns gold...so no worries here for this game as its nearly a sure thing as long as they don't go broke trying to make it which I doubt happens (crosses fingers and knocks on wood).

I'll probably hit up ToR. I hope it's not just the next big disappointment, like Vanguard, Warhammer, Aion, <insert MMO here>.
That's a long wait. But it'll give me a chance to clear my slate for my first dip into the MMO arena.
