Molyneux: Fable III X10 Announcement Will Piss People Off

This week you can expect a bunch of revelations about Microsoft’s biggest upcoming games from the company’s X10 event. Among those juicy news bits will be a Fable III announcement that creator Peter Molyneux says will leave people “super pissed.”

"There's some very, very big things happening in Fable III, and it's really going to upset people,” Molyneux said to Game Reactor. “I'm really scared when I go out and tell people what it is [that] they're going to get super pissed off. They really are."

In case you’re quivering in fear at the upcoming announcement, Molyneux adds "it's the right thing to do, man. I'm sure it's the right thing to do."

Fable III has previously been announced as supporting Project Natal, but could this X10 revelation be that the game will be controlled exclusively with the motion-sensing technology? We reckon that would definitely make more than a couple gamers “super pissed.”

Be sure to check in later this week, as Game Informer will be attending X10 in order to supply you with the latest gaming news.

  • It's going to be delayed, is my guess :-P

My guess: Fable III Natal Party - comes with 30 minigames, no quests.

  • If the announcement IS some sort of Natal only controls, you can count on one less purchase from me. I think the Natal has good potential and may even spawn a wealth of ideas, but I don't want to be forced to use it if I don't want to.

  • I hope they say they will NOT be using Natal. It is something I could see them thinking people would be pissed about, then realize not that many people care. Here's to hoping...

  • it better not be only motion controlled.

  • Fable III - Rated "E" for Everyone.

  • Given Microsoft's level of greed, I would say that yeah, it's safe to assume that the game will be exclusively controlled with Natal. That way they can pull in hardcore gamers that are all ready in love with the Fable franchise and make them buy something they may not really care about.  Imagine that, Microsoft forcing it's own "customers" hands.  That would be weird... :P

  • I was gonna say it has got to be a Natal announcement...he has been pushing it for awhile..but i am still wondering how it is gonna be used.

  • LOL at Andrew.

I'd reckon on a delay also.  Exclusivity to Natal would be in no way the right thing to do because it would hurt sales dramatically. Everyone who has played the first two games isn't going to go buy Natal because they want to play the third.  Likewise, people who are interested in playing the series for the first time aren't going to be encouraged when they realize they need Natal to play it.

Also another thought is that Fable is also a PC game, and Natal isn't on the PC...

  • or maybe they'll announce the end of the exclusive deal with MS that would make me happy although to be fair it's probably the motion control only annoucement and how can it piss people off if it works they way they imagine it...imagine just walking around in a first person view using your actual hands to swing a sword or pick up a chicken and throw it on someone's head, I like Natal I think it has potential as long as it doesn't become a shovel ware peripheral

  • actually, what will make people super pissed is the fact that they now will be able to drive cars in fable 3, because its taking place in the 1930's.

  • it would make me super pissed but this might just be a publicity stunt to get people to actually pay attention to this announcement

  • The announcement will be that Fable 3 is going to be a PS3 exclusive.

  • @ Sam

Fable 2 isn't on PC and I'm sure they have no plans of porting it anytime soon.

  • here we go again with Peter Molyneux. I love the fable series but this guy just annoys me for some reason. I think he's just trying to get attention

  • Molyneux is a quality game designer, but the man loves to smother himself in self-generated hype. Invoking his brand of showmanship is old hat for him, and it always ends up overshadowing the final products of his labor. I doubt that any upcoming announcement on Fable III will be any exception. At any rate, I'm never impressed when designers start the 'jumping-up-and-down-look-at-meeeeeeeeee' act, so I'm not going to be bouncing off the walls to hear what he has to say.

  • "super pissed", huh?

    i guess it's probably a good thing i don't give a rat's ass about Fable then... (laughing)

  • Ah, I see. That's a shame for PC gamers.  Well scratch out that part of my argument...
