Brock Lesnar Is UFC Undisputed 2010’s Cover Athlete

Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has another achievement to hang under his abnormally large belt. Today THQ announced that Lesnar would be UFC Undisputed 2010’s cover athlete.

Lesnar made his UFC debut during UFC 81: Breaking Point, and went on to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship title in November 2008 after defeating Randy Couture at UFC 91. Lesnar is slated to return to the Octagon sometime in 2010, but fans will get to try and take away his title for themselves when the next installment of THQ’s successful UFC franchise hits store selves on May 25.

  • FIRST! Who?

  • I dont follow UFC :P

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    GET SOME!!!

  • @trombonehero96

Can we really stop with the first thing? Honestly what do you get out of it? Some sort of sick pleasure or something?

As for the article, he looks extremely intimidating. I swear I'm going to have nightmares now.

  • If you don't care about this then don't be a little b*tch and post here just to post the word first. Go act like a five year old somewhere else unless you have something to contribute. You would know who he was if you read the article, regardless of whether or not you follow UFC.

On the other hand, I really can't think of a better person to symbolize the massive beat down this game is going to hand to EA's late leap onto the band wagon.

  • Brock Lesnar is from my state of South Dakota. But, I don't follow UFC, so that's somewhat a mute point.

  • i have no idea who that is

  • Thanks Wess105 and linktriforce. at least SOMEONE was nice. but you two jerks hurt my feelings, Peter and 0_JMan240_o. With your lameo names.

  • Nothing Sweeter than a little MN love with the awesomeness that is Brock Lesnar. Playing as Brock is the next best thing to watching him fight.

  • Psssh, I could take out Brock Lesnar.

Why isn't Anderson Silva on it? Or Thiago Silva.

You know, a GOOD fighter who has more than just size on his side?

  • I'd put Anderson Silva on it! I think that maybe after all the *** Brock went through this year, perhaps he deserves it. Glad to see him back!

  • brock is great maybe EA can do a better job on a ufc game i hope so neway graphics were cheap on the last one that's for sure

  • AWESOME!!!!!!

  • That's kind of shocking especially after the one UFC fight where he flipped all of the fans off and Dana White got really annoyed.

  • not really a fan of UFC, didnt really like the first one, might try this one, though

  • #1 It's "moot" point, not "mute" point.

#2 +1 internet to o_JMan240_o. Like he said: If you don't follow UFC and none of this pertains to you, why make a comment? Go talk into a mirror where there's someone who actually wants to hear your comments.

    #3 Brock's face looks goofy.

#4 This game is going to punch your face in the ass.

  • HELL YEA BABY BROCK LESNARS THA ***

  • ... :D?

  • brock is the man but i heard he cant fight anymore do to an intestinal disease he got and thats why his fights keep getting delayed

  • Yeah the "First!" poster should be banned; they're here posting just to be first, and then, in another post no less, admit they don't follow UFC. Do we really need any more evidence of trombonner's worthlessness to GIO?

For that matter all of the subsequent posts from people saying: "I don't follow UFC/ I don't know who that is" are also pointless and unnecessary. If it's that important to those people to accrue GIO user points, the can do so on threads where they have something to add to the conversation.

Edit* (now that I've seen him spam up this thread): seriously BANHAMMER!

There's not one UFC follower who's been conscious any time in the last 12-24 months who still doesn't know who Brock is (period).

Sheesh, now that's taken care of:

I guess it makes sense to have Brock Lesnar on the cover; he is the champ of the heavyweight division and will likely remain so until they can find some other monster with the same level of athleticism. But for me the heavyweight division is kind of stale these days, both because of the barrier Brock represents, and because the other weight classes have more action going on (as far as in a given fight, and in terms of other contender's making runs at the title). Honestly though, I don't care one way or the other who gets the cover (though I think there are other fighters who've done more to earn that honor if indeed it is one); what's more pressing to me at this point is whether or not Clay Guida and some of the other lesser known, but very exciting/skilled fighters are going to make it in UFC 2010. I know that Guida didn't appear in '09 because the devs couldn't get this hair to work in right in the game in a way that would look realistic, and that Guida turned down some pretty big money (like 10-20K or something) to cut his hair in real life (a decision which I suppose I support).

Also EA is making a MMA game, not a UFC game; Dana White offered them the rights to the license and EA laughed him out the door (this was prior to or around the same time when Ultimate Fighter first came out, which is when UFC was able get enough of an audience to become the dominant MMA brand), and Dana being Dana, I don't see him giving up that grudge for quite awhile unless millions are involved. I'd have to tend to disagree with the statement that Undisputed '09 had "cheap graphics," and based on the reviews, I'd have to say the "that's for sure" is also a point that is quite dubious, if supportable at all.

That said the graphics for the EA game do look pretty hot, but that's not the real story: the real make or break for that game (IMO) is whether or not EA can deliver on it's promise that their game's ground game is way above and beyond what's in the UFC game, which is admittedly a bit weak as it stands in Undisputed '09 (as any fight is pretty much determined by who can get the dominant position on the ground, no matter how early that occurs in the fight; this is not totally unrealistic, but the way it's handled here is not great for a video game).
