The lights are on
Here’s a fun little look into the creative process behind game design. Ross Dearsly, a freelance artist who used to work for EA just posted a bunch of old concept designs on his blog.
If you follow the link you find a venerable catalogue of EA games that were never made, and likely never will. Even if they never happen most of these concept designs are fun to look over. Check out EA’s ideas for a next-gen Road Rash, the Oliver Twist game (below), or our favorite Gunhead (featured above).

Can't help my self...FIRST!
That is some of the most unique batman Concept I have ever seen but joker looks like Dr. Roxxo CA-CA-CA-CA-CA YEAH!!!
What are the names of some of these concepts they look amazing seriously
Umm... I'm, stealing that Gun Head liscence. It must see the light of day!
Ha ha poor soul had to help with the Catwoman games ha ha
That's all right, EA isn't that great.
They're actually quite awful, truth be told.
Its too bad that games like Charm Girls Club get made but Gun Head gets left in the dust
It's because of stupid mainstream meat-head "hardcore" gamers, who only pick up sequels to uncreative shooters in droves, that we'll never see awesome titles like these.
Publishers need to figure out a way to deliver us games that don't cost tens of millions of dollars to produce, so they can start making some more original titles and not have to worry so much about whether or not they can be a million seller at retail. Seeing games like Mirror's Edge - which sold almost 2 million units on PS3 (770,000) and 360 (950,000) anyway! - be counted as failures at retail is mindblowing. And unhealthy for the industry.
Not to mention there are us gamers who are SICK AND TIRED of all the muddy, militaristic FPS's on the market. And EA in particular seems content to just rehash other popular games now, cuz that's apparently what constitutes success. Dante's Inferno is their God of War, Medal of Honor is the Call of Duty, Rock Band is their Guitar Hero, etc. etc. etc. I want to see some more creative, stylized games ***! And I want to see them NOT be counted as failures at retail.
Gun Head would be awesome if it was made by Critireon (I think that's how you spell it). Gun Head + Black = $$$.
I agree with ben y charm girls club? Gives us more action games.
DOWN WITH SHOVELWARE
Oliver Twist is kind of far fetched and that gun head can't be serious.
Gun head! that would have been fun lol
"Medal of Honor is the Call of Duty"
it may be worth pointing out that medal of honor predates call of duty.
um...
EA isn't that bad sure they've been known to constantly cram sequels down our throats but they've published quite a few good quality games that weren't rehashes or sequels it's us the consumer that has forced that and you can blame that primarily on two things: media coverage...ie game informer or xplay or any mag and name recognition someone who doesn't know anything about video games walks into gamestop to buy their loved one whether it be child friend or partner a game and without knowing anything will go and pick up something that sounds familiar...thank you mass consumer corporate culture
Actually a small group that worked on Medal of Honor left and created Infinity Ward and the multi-million dollar CoD franchise.
the artwork is beautiful!
The Oliver Twist screen shot looked cool... too bad it might never be madeD=
I love concept art. Thank you GI for the link.
I followed the link, what a shame none of these were made into gamesD=...
