The lights are on
Bethesda has revealed scant details about the next installment in the Fallout series, called Fallout: New Vegas. We know it's being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a studio built by many of the minds behind the original game. Aside from assuming that it's set in, well, New Vegas, speculation has reigned supreme. That has changed a bit this morning. Bethesda has announced a rough release window for the game: Fall 2010. It's set to release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though further details are still tough to come by.
In the meantime, check out the first trailer from the game. It features many of the elements from the series, such as campy music offsetting a bleak setting, ruined landscapes and "War never changes." There's also a quick glimpse at a sinister figure surveying what seems to be a remarkably intact Las Vegas. Interesting stuff...

Looks pretty cool, although I still haven't gotten around to finishing Fallout 3 yet.
New California Republic as the bad guys? Interesting....
OMGGG Vegas Crazy! Ive been hearing about this game for sometime! Im excited!! still need to go Buy the GOTY edtion for all of the DLC for those darn achievents
I can listen to Ron Perlman talk for hours. I love his voice.
I spent the course of about twelve months playing Fallout 3 and it's subsequent DLC. I can't wait to see more on New Vegas.
My idea? That is the desendant of the vault dweller (1st/2nd Fallout) who united the California's and is about to attack Vegas, which they rebuilt and power with a vaults generators. How do I know that is who it is? He has a Pip-boy. The rest is guesswork.
Yeah, great first news of the day for me. When I heard Interplay got the rights to do the MMO, all I wanted to know is if Bethesda still had to the rights for the "standard" Fallout stuff. Personally I will probably give the MMO a brief look, but I can't foresee myself playing any more MMOs, short of getting paid to do so; regardless of how interesting the subject/brand of that MMO is. Now if they'd ever get a real MMO up and running on the console side of things, I might change my tune, but at this point I'm skeptical that we'll see that in this console gen.
Sweet!!!! I cant wait, its going to awsome cant wait to hear more about it.
Awesomeliciousnicity. Hopefully this tastes as good as Fallout 3.
I have fallout 3 but haven't gotten to play it, Christmas day I got 10 games. Jak 2, Jak 3, ACII, Uncharted 2, Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Quest XI, Batman Arkham Asylum and I recently got DJ Hero and Mass Effect 2. Fallout 3 has to wait.
good stuff fallout is in my top 5 of all time and i have 100s of hours logged in from my voyage in the wasteland cant wait for some more
This is great! I heard about this a few months ago and I've kept wondering about it. I just got Fallout 3 GOTY edition for Christmas and Bethesda did an amazing job of creating the game, it definately grabs a spot for one of my favorite games of all time. That's strange that the whole city is completely intact, it seems like the whole place was untouched by the bombs. I'll have to wait and see then, but I'm pre-ordering this whenever I pick up Red Dead Redmption in April.
Also, I heard GI was supposed to do a cover story on this for the February issue, is that true?
I did not see this coming! I am having a hard time puting my tounge back and my mouth and picking my jaw off the floor.
YEEEEAAAAAAAAHH!!! This is very very good. I can't wait to see what the post-war society is like in cities that weren't nuked.
hope it's an improvement on the last one. fallout 3 was good; there was just too much glitches and slow down. oh... and i hope the graphics are better.
lol @ people who don't know anything about Fallout lore taking guesses at the plot.
So yeah, it looks like the Hoover Dam is up and running?
Heres hoping that ps3 owners wont have to wait months longer than everyone else for the dlc on this one.
Guess I finally need to finish Fallout 3 then..
Dude looks like a jedi, nothing wrong with that just thinkin. Anyway this game looks unsurprisingly awesome although I hope New Vegas isn't too advanced I like that lone ranger apocalyptic no people no organization feel of the series if society is starting to rebuild itself it might be weird.
