Red Faction Sequel, Much More In The Works From THQ

Without investor calls, how would any news break in the video game world? THQ had its annual one recently, and CEO Brian Farrell dropped the news that the company is working on another Red Faction game and more.

Joining Red Faction – which we know nothing about other than its existence, though the excellence of Red Faction: Guerilla is enough to get us on board – in fiscal 2011 is another title with potential. Homefront, the next game from Frontlines developer Kaos Studios, impressed at E3 with its intense near-future combat, and is likewise scheduled to appear next year. Though Farrell didn't say anything specific, he hinted at a return to De Blob in that timeframe as well.

According to Farrell's statements on the conference call, fiscal 2012 is set to receive a Darksiders sequel following news of the first games 1.2 million units sold. The Saint's Row franchise will also get another entry during this time period, as well as Relic's upcoming action/RPG Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

As is the nature of such things, the conference call didn't enlighten us on any details about these projects; only their existence was mentioned. Still, it's good to see the publisher sticking with its franchises and giving gamers more of what they crave. With any luck, these follow-ups will maintain the level of quality we've come to expect from THQ over the last few years.

  • Eh. These game are OK.

  • Huzzah! I only ask for destructible terrain, and I'll be happy bout Red faction.

  • This game probably has nothing to do with THQ, but what about Brink?! I saw some videos for it, and it looked amazing!

  • Are you serious? Saints Row 3, Darksiders 2, a new Red Faction? WARHAMMER??

    WIN!

    WIN!

    WIN!

    WIN!

    WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GO THQ they've been making some great stuff recently even if I don't own all of it.

  • Great news! I'm excited to see how well Volition can build on their already impressive Geo-Mod 2.0 engine. And I Homefront looks like a promising title as well. I haven't played Darksiders yet, but soon. Soon it shall find it's self in my loving arms as I open it's tightly shut box and then pop out it's ever so beautiful disc. Okay so I'm not that much of a nerd. Anyway, 2011 already looks to be a good year.

  • Very excited and pleased to see Red Faction and Darksiders getting sequels. Solid titles that I hope they'll bring some great things to the second time around. I'm also hopeful for Homefront and Space Marine. lots of potentially awesome stuff in the works from THQ!

  • red fakshin blows more than mag

  • Sweet, Guerilla was pretty rockin'.  Hopefully THQ will be able to come up with another fresh approach to an otherwise tired franchise.

  • THQ really has been delivering quality over the past few years. Hopefully they don't become like Activision, because I would hate to see that happen.

Another Red Faction is great news! Like TARG, I can't wait to see what insane new precedent this series can set for destructible environments -- Guerilla's destructible buildings are still unmatched by even the newest games. What's next?

  • Can't wait to see what they bring into the destructible environment of Red Faction this time around... I loved the last game and I've never been a huge fan of shooters ^_^

  • Can't wait for Saints Row 3.  That's one of the most entertaining series I've ever played.  Nobody say anything about it being a cheap ripoff of GTA.

  • excited to hear about red faction,

  • I cant wait.

  • good stuff
