PopCap's Lawsuit Losses Total $7.3 Million

Last week it was announced that MumboJumbo successfully sued PopCap for $4.6 million. Now it’s been announced that PopCap is being pegged with MumboJumbo’s legal fees, increasing overall losses by more than 50 percent.

MumboJumbo’s legal fees for the case totaled $2.7 million, including lawyer fees and $525,000 for appeals after the verdict was decided. This brings PopCap’s damages up to $7.3 million.

The original case found PopCap guilty of damaging MumboJumbo’s relationships with retailers by issuing false and misleading statements. PopCap allegedly wanted to sabotage MumboJumbo’s distribution so they could move in on the territory themselves. This qualified as a breach of contract between the companies, which had MumboJumbo distributing select PopCap games.

  • Hopefully this won't affect PopCap's ability to put out great games like Plants vs. Zombies.

  • I think it's safe to say that Popcap is officially screwed.

  • Hey, you faggotry bigots at MumboJumbo, how about attacking EA or something? WHY?

Seriously, though, how much money does PopCap have from peggle alone

  • That sucks. looks like somebodys gonna look for a new job.

  • Karma's a b*tch. Even though they breached a contract, I still hope I'll get to see great games from them. Although it's sad to hear this because it's definately affecting them greatly. This better not be the end of PopCap, they make great games and I hope we'll still see more quality titles in the future. Here's hoping they'll find a way to get out of this, good luck PopCap.

  • Pop Cap's the best.

  • I really hope this won't effect them much but 7.3 million dollars is alot
