"Return to Rapture" Midnight Launch Events Announced

On February 9 you'll get to return to Rapture sooner than you thought. Today 2K Games has announced that GameStop and Best Buy stores will hold midnight launch events for the release of BioShock 2.

"One of the most exciting aspects of the original BioShock was how our fans responded with adoration for the game, from creating homemade Big Daddy suits to their own BioShock-inspired art and videos," said Christoph Hartmann, president at 2K. "We felt it was only fitting to reach out to those passionate fans with nationwide Return to Rapture midnight openings where they can pick up their copy of BioShock 2 as early as possible."

More than 2,500 GameStop and Best Buy stores will hold midnight openings. Call your local retailer for details.

If you preordered the special edition package, 2K has provided an unboxing video so you can see what you're getting when you pick it up next week.

Can't wait any longer to get a peek at BioShock 2? 2K Games will kick off a series of launch specials tonight with the debut of a three-minute trailer during the first commercial break of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In case you can't tune in, check out GameInformer.com tomorrow for the full trailer.

GameStop is the parent company of Game Informer.

  • I dont normally like to stay up until midnight because I lose too much sleep, but I MAY stay up for this

  • First

  • I wonder how many people will go to these dressed up like Big Daddies...

  • niice. im definately looking forward to thi swhole ting

  • I know, I was a couple of seconds late

  • i am  glad to see other games getting the kind of repect, even if its title doesn't begin with halo.=)

  • That unboxing video is hilarious! But as for midnight launches,I'm totally done with those.Too many times have I got a game at midnight and played to dawn, unable to sleep and was totally wrecked the next day.

  • @Vote for Pedro

not as many as MasterCheif's I saw on April 43rd (hint: none)

I'll get this at a normal time like a normal person.

  • lol I couln't have afford the UBER edition!

  • Yes!

  • So whats the word on the sh!tty drm scheme this time around?  I will probably not be touching this on PC (I made the mistake of buying the first one on PC; I will never buy a game that has limited installs again!) and instead opt for the PS3 version.

I like the game, but I hate the decisions that companies make with their DRM ideas.

  • definitely goin for the uber edition

  • Oooo!  Ahhh!

  • I want to be there, but I don't think I'll be able to find the time. Even if I don't go, I'll be there first thing after school!

  • @Shaiapouf-Yeah, that is what I mean by "lose too much sleep". I feel awful the next day, my head hurts, I ache, my allergies become HYPER-sensitive...but I still might consider it...Even if I dont play it, I may just pick it up.

  • I think a Bioshock midnight release would actually be really cool. Less spoiled bratty adolescents, potheads and general jerks than your Modern Warfare or Halo releases...

  • I want teh Uber Edition! Too bad it got cancelled... I got the special edition and Limited guide preordered so im gonna be at gamestop at 10:00 when the line starts! Am i a bit fanatical? Maybe. Do i have fun with  it? Definitely.

  • Im going to have to come gto Game Informer.com as soon as I wake up

  • I hope this game is as good as part one if not better(It has me worried that it is made by a different developer than the first one).
