UPDATE: PSP Go Relaunch In The Works?

UPDATE: Sony has responded in regards to the PSP Go relaunch rumor, stating that the speculation is "nothing but that."

ORIGINAL STORY: Rumors have been budding up regarding a relaunch of Sony’s PSPgo. The digital-only handheld was welcomed with very little fanfare when it launched last October, and sources are reporting that Sony wants a do-over.

Gamervision reports that this mulligan is due to hit very soon, and that a larger marketing campaign will be championing the attempt to claim glory (and sales). If this hearsay ends up being true, hopefully a price reduction would be part of Sony’s new deal.

We've contacted Sony for comment, and we'll be sure to bring you any new developments on this rumor.

If the PSPgo relaunched $50 cheaper, would you give it another look? Can’t remember what the doo-hickey is all about? Check out our video review.

  • no bc then I get to pay for more memory and games so its more expensive u cant sell the games or trade them or let friends/relatives play it so umds r the way to go

  • It's like a nut you can play outside... but with less features.

  • Not even at a price reduction OR with heated seats and cupholders.

  • yeah no thanks... the pspgo was a dud at the first launch and its still a dud now. sony is just trying to rectify their mistake of making a stupid product. i would buy the psp-3000 for $50 cheaper though.

  • i enjoy my PSP, but it really needs another analog stick.  seriously.  just stick a 4" screen onto a dual shock and you'd have the best portable gaming system ever.

  • You know, I didnt understand the purpose of putting this thing out in the first place. You cant use any of your previous PSP games, you pay more for it, and you have to spend time downloading games onto a memory card just to play them, when you can just as easily go to gamestop, buy a UMD, pop it in, and play. No thank you.

  • Yeah no.

  • Honestly the majority of people that DID spend the extra cash on a psp GO have repeatedly stated that they've regretted it.  There would have to be a major overhaul on the product itself and a price reduction as well, either way I really think Sony's throwing away money here.

  • wasn't the first launch bad enough?there just going to waste more money on a pointless device.

did anyone buy the psp go?

  • There would still be no point in getting one. And the 1 or 2 people who bought one early would be angry at Sony.

  • The PSP GO was one of the most stupid thing that has ever happened in the history of videogaming and Sony needs to move on and just give us the PSP 2(two analog sticks this time)

  • I think mobile gameing (with the exception of cell phones) is at the end of its road. I had a PSP but the small screen would make my eyes hurt and I would feel sick for some reason if I used it in the car. Plus unless your playing it at night or under your jacket/shirt/whatever, you cant see the screen due to the glare if the sun is out in full force.

  • If it were cheaper than the psp 3000 i would give it a look.

  • Fail.  Everything about the PSP Go is a fail.  Just give up on this one Sony.  It's like gambling... know when you've lost and just move on.

  • NOOO!

  • Um, wtf where is the 2nd analog stick? Can Sony really somehow not figure this out!!? A touchscreen would be better IMO.

  • Nope. Nothing can save this overpriced yet underwhelming trash.

  • No way I still like UMDs cuz if i'm done with playing them I can trade them in towars another game

  • I love my PSP go (i used to have a 3000) and im a huge gamer i understand that some people dont like that it cant play umd's and u cant get to the battery but its not enough to make me not like the go.

  • I'm not buying this.
