Capcom Delays Major 2010 Titles

by Joe Juba on Dec 22, 2009 at 09:04 AM

With all of the major titles releasing in the first few months of 2010, gamers are going to be very busy. However, Capcom has made sure that you can cross three games off your to-do list: Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV, and Monster Hunter Tri.

The games were initially scheduled to release in the January to March timeframe of 2010 (the 4th quarter of the fiscal year), but an investor document revealed that all three have been pushed out further into the year. According to the document, the reasons include "Avoid competing with the major titles that other companies plan to introduce in the 4th quarter," "Preserve the value of Capcom's titles and maximize sales volume," and "expand the lineup of titles in the next fiscal year and afterward."

Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV, and Monster Hunter Tri will join Dead Rising 2 and unannounced "other major titles" in the new fiscal year, with their releases "spread across all four quarters of the fiscal year to prevent an excessive contribution from new titles in the 4th quarter."

Spreading out the releases may be the right financial move for Capcom, but it is little consolation to those of us who were looking forward to beating up T. Hawk, shooting bright orange weak spots, and not buying Monster Hunter in early 2010.
