ModNation Racers Beta Open, Mario Kart Tracks Quake With Fear

by Tim Turi on Dec 18, 2009 at 10:32 AM

A do-it-yourself Mario Kart seems like a no-brainer in this user-generated content generation we live in. Luckily for you, developer United Front Games understands that the sooner they give the tools to their awaiting community, the better the custom tracks will be when the PlayStation 3 exclusive goes gold. As far as betas go, ModNation Racers packs a lot of punch for the price of admission (free).

You’ll be able to race, upload, download, edit, rate, and create tracks in the newly opened beta. Judging by the amount of toys ModNation Racers offers for character, kart, and track customization, this beta could be the perfect thing to tide you over until the triple-A video game hurricane of 2010.

Three levels from the full game are being included, also. Farm Frenzy, Market Run, and Sandstorm are the polished courses offered from the developers for you to burn some rubber on.

ModNation Racer’s public beta runs from today until January 10th, so if you have your code handy from LittleBigPlanet’s Game of the Year Edition, make sure to redeem it in the PlayStation Store.

What are you waiting for? It’s time to get out there and let your imagination soar. Or you can just start recreating Mario Kart tracks, whatever you’re in to.
